Yes I was considering this. But found a cheaper option. The seat guy had a enfield classic cushion lying around and he used that to pad rc's stock seat. End result is excellent. Long rides are no longer an issue. And seat height has only increased by an inch. Total cost 200 bucks:D

I would suggest this. There is a lot of enfield population who are into the thinning of seat business(not sure what else to call it). See if you can find some seat cover shop who have the remains shaven off of the enfield's seat. They usually vary from half an inch to a little over 1 inch. And make for an excellent pad. Paste it on top of stock seat. File it to fit. Get a cover stitched and you are done

Got into the adrenalin domain by purchasing a new Duke 390.
Yes its pure adrenalin rush. Easily sheds out some years from your age.

Addition of slipper clutch is a boon in city riding. The major complaint that Duke 390 is not for the city no longer exists. You can easily find the sweet spot to glide through the city albeit the gear changing fun without any jerk.

All my test rides were on Duke 390 without slipper clutch and i was not at all comfortable with the jerky ride in city. But the fun in highways prompted me in buying it. I have a bullet 350 to do the city job. But the new Duke has changed this perception.

Already completed 400kms in 5 days. Getting ready for more butt cracking rides.

Dealer was Pro biking showroom, Thiruvananthapuram.

No owners manual, no instructions about the bike. Simply handed over they key from showroom and told bike is parked outside, you can take it.

"hamara bajaj" this is wonderful way of handing over a 2.4 lakh bike.

Now can anyone shed light on where to get the owners manual. Checked the KTM Website. Duke 390 manual is absent. Is it same as the Duke 200. there are separate manuals for RC 390 and RC 200.

Finally got the front tyre replaced. The Stock front tyre lasted 24K kms. Not bad at all. :D

michelin was readily available but i wanted metz for the front. Ordered through tyre empire, HSR layout. the cost came to 7050rs for tyre and 103 rs for installing on the bike.

BTW, there is another option from metzeler available for duke called sprotec M7. much softer compound, priced over 9k for the front. i guess for the track.

Escalate the matter to Bajaj, they are supposed to give you the user manual as well as a first aid kit/tool kit with the bike at time of delivery. The KTM international website will have a download of the manual which you can use as a stop gap (since there are slight differences like air pressure specs) till you get the physical copy.

PS: Silly question this might be, so please excuse if that's the case. Did you check under the seat for the manual?

Nope. it is not there under the seat :). first aid kit was given. I specifically asked for the manual. The showroom manager told that the practice was stopped since April 2015. Don't know whether this is correct.

The new M7RR is a road tyre which has a claimed extended mileage than the M5, its softer than the M5 but due to different compounds the wet and dry performance on road is supposed to be better than the M5 .
Tyre empire HSR quoted 10900 for the 150 rear .

I am one of the rare people that has spent 200 dollars to get the power part seat from Australia. And then found that it was not high enough and my knees were pretty bent over with it. I therefore went back to using the sofarider gel pad on top of the powerparts seat. I find that it suits my height better and the combo of the two is definitely comfortable.
The sofa rider gel pad on its own is pretty comfy but as a side note you do need to stretch the velcro straps quite a bit to get it to stay in one place. This then leads to a bit of tension at the place where the straps meet the pad and mine has started to tear a bit.

Please insist them to give it in writing that they have stopped issuing the manual.

I send an email to the customer service team. They replied promptly. Did not confirm whether they will give manual or not. Confirmed that they will address the problem.

I got an SMS " Welcome to KTM family" with a customer ID number also which needs to be quoted for next service.

Wonder why this was not done proactively by the dealer.

My bike celebrated its second anniversary on 20/9 with the following odo reading.



By far it has been a trouble free ride for me all this time. Been to Ladakh from Bangalore in this period and the bike has pretty well held up to all the elements it has been thrown up to.

Ka, as I call my bike got an anniversary present a few days before in form of engine guards from G.A.Engineering and Auto accessories. Mounting is a simple 15 minutes job if you are ready to get your hand dirty and greased. Got all the fasteners along with the guards, but used the original ones wherever it could be used. Here are a few pics of the same. The fit, finish and colour are close to the original but can be made out in sunlight.















And also my friend's bike with stock belly guard.

Nice safety feature of an additional clutch cable, wedged in there. :)

Have any of you guys experienced the 'Zero error' yet on your speedometers? I've been noticing this lately and it's getting more frequent - the speed displayed is 0 and then randomly jumps back to the actual speed.

I've been told the speedometer will be replaced for free under warranty and all miles accumulated will be lost and all that.

My Duke 200 has the same issue. it happens only during night or when the light is switched on. Not using the bike much nowadays so didn't bother visiting the service centre. my bike is not under warranty.
