I am getting winter jackets, pants, heated grips, even gloves, neck warmers and what not. Its like whatever it takes get close to the 12 months

Affordability - Absolutely yes. Imaging riding a 650 for the price less than that of a 390. Sorry we went off topic here.

But the point is we have the best bang for the buck in the form of 390 and i am sure i will pick one up the day i land there.

My first post on behalf of my brother. We own a duke 390 and the bike has developed a new issue from today. The bike shuts off once the RPM crossed 5500. The bike was recently serviced (16000kms) and run only 50 Kms post service.

What might be the issue?

A quick update on my tail tidy DIY.

Filled the empty and hollow tail area firstly with perfectly cut thermocole and later covered it with a quite thick layer of m-seal. Now the tail section looks neat and sealed from probable water entering entering inside during rains.

Also have attached along the pic of the modified numberplate holder plate.

That's a weird issue, rather uncommon. Do understand that some Dukes are known to abruptly shut down when your engage the clutch at certain speeds, and I hope that's not the issue here.

Bad fuel might be factor, or it could be an electrical fault. The best idea would be to take it to the nearest trustworthy KTM service center. You can also try elaborating the issue here, maybe a video attachment, and see if anybody has any ideas.

I have ridden in rain for hours and the bike was parked outside and it has got washed that way numerous times.
I suspect that it needs some cleaning/adjustment/tuning of the throttle body.

Does the engine stall when you hold the revs steady? say at 4k rpm for a longer duration ?

The bike doesn't start anymore. Just the starter motor kicking in. I think it's time to bring the flat bed truck. :Frustrati

I also had faced the same problem, it was the fuel pump gone kapput!
Just check if you can hear the pump getting started once you turn the ignition to on position. In my case this was not happening.

More likely to be an electrical issue. Please get the coils and wiring checked. In that sequence.

Does KTM Duke offer roadside assistance?

KTM Orange Assist is there to help with roadside troubles, but you have to pay 800 bucks for a yearly subscription. I'm not sure if they can charge some amount and tow your bike to the nearest SVC. Here are the numbers I have of them: 022 40901529 022 66022563

If you are anywhere near Mumbai, I would suggest to head straight to KTM Seawoods, that's the best KTM service center there is in my opinion.

Thanks for all the information. Can we purchase the KTM Orange assist now? The bike is 11 months old. And the bike is in Mangalore, 40kms away from the nearest A.S.S.

My brother spoke to the Technician in the A.S.S. They didn't have a proper understanding of the issue and expecting a call back.

I don't think anybody will be able to diagnose this issue without touching the bike and spending some time with it. However, check with fellow BHPins or other contacts you have to find the most reliable KTM service center near you. Although KTM SVCs are not known for any shady practices, it's no use to send your bike to a place where nobody has a clue what to do with it.
