I have a Jan 2013 Thunderbird.

The Matt Black of the engine maintains well, does not develop bubbles or flake off.

I have in fact painted most of the other parts in the same color. The only major part that id not black is the bend pipe and exhaust.

As slicvic had already mentioned, even my bird is free from any crack or paint peeling off or any wearing out of the black coating. Here are two recent photographs, showing the blackened part of the engine and crank case after the last service.

Forgot to mention earlier, I once dropped my bike and at that time the fluids from the battery had spilt on part of the engine, that area has a little permanent stain. So be careful when removing and replacing the battery

Got the product but it was broken in transit. The seller agreed to send another one. It is a cheap but thick acrylic sheet molded in to shape. It is not a brittle plastic sheet.
Did you get the replacement?

Is it a direct fit.

Please post some pictures and your experience

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Dear J Ravi sir, Inspired by your posts I too am the proud owner of a Thunderbird 350. Running smoothly for 7000 odd kms now. However occasionally when the bike is started on a warm engine block there is a pronounced tappit sound which goes away after 4 - 5 kms. I am not sure what to do about it since it is very occasional and cannot be reproduced at the service center. Can anyone help?

New Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X variant.

Seems like Royal Enfield has finally started listening to their customers.

Meet Thunderbird 500X.

Supposedly it will be a new launch, with new handlebar, new seating, alloys and a matte black finish on the engine, suspension, exhaust, etc. Aimed at a younger crowd of buyers, it will be offered in funky colour options like Blue, Yellow, Red, White.

Launch is scheduled to take place next month, post which deliveries will commence.

p.s. moderators please merge it with the post and pictures above

Any news on ABS being introduced? Or is this just a "facelift" job?

RE is launching not just a 500X, but a Thunderbird 350X as well. They are the ones in white and red.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

I am a fan of you Mr. Ravi. Read all this RE and XUV threads.

I just bought a pre-worshipped 2015 Thunderbird 500 which had only 230KM on the ODO. The whole tank had rusted away along with the EFI. Anyways, took it to the service center and had both of them replaced along with service done (the prior owner was a gentleman). While I was there, I liked a black crash guard and as it was recommended by my service advisor, I got it installed. Now, whenever I go on bumps, I get a hit sound and this (the pic) is the end result. The crash guard is bumping into the travel of the front shox. How the heck are these service advisors hired to advise customers that actually damage their vehicles .

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Ravi Sir,

It has been a treat to read about your adventures with your bull. There is definitely a certain subtlety in your writing style which attracts avid readers and riders in the forum. The way you log information and present them here is meticulous to say the least.

I am certainly not a fan of RE motorcycles, but glued myself to this thread and enjoyed your touring experiences. It was your RE experiences that made me say "Yes", when my brother chose a 2016 Bullet 350 for himself and definitely this thread was partly responsible for keeping my riding spirits high.

Hats off to you Sir! Happy riding!

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Man I spent the last 4 hours going through this entire thread. Iam planning to pick up a pre loved Thunderbird 500 to replace my Avenger 220 as a daily run about. I already have a ninja 650 for touring.
Does the thunderbird make sense in today's day and age? I for one love the looks of the thunderbird far more than the Interceptor. If only royal Enfield had made a thunderbird 650 I would have blindly gone for it rather than hunting down a pre owned one.
Does anyone have a link where I can buy the original Givi windscreen for it?

Use a Zip Tie to measure travel of the front forks, if its way too close to the T then your need to consider overhauling the front end.
