I am given to understand by the dealer that the TBs & the GTs are manufactured at the new plant. Hence metallurgy, fit, finish & overall quality can be expected to be superior

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Hi all, I booked a TBTS 500 in November and there was a price increase of Rs. 5,000/- after I made the booking. I noticed that most of the 2 wheeler manufacturers have reduced the price after the union budget and I have made an query to Royal Enfield through their FB page whether they will be announcing a price cut or not. Instead of making any reply they deleted the post twice. I feel offended. What do you think about it.

Bird's Day Out: Chennai>Kodaikanal>Chennai [1,140 km] Within 24 Hours!

Did anybody visit Kodaikanal and start the return journey within a couple of hours?

Yes, we [self + Blue Bird] did on 28 February 2014.

As per my policy of 'paragraphs minimum, photographs maximum', let the photographs do the talking!

I am not interested in IBA SS rides as I enjoy highway cruising coupled with photography.

First Kanniyakumari, then, Athirapilly and now Kodaikanal. Usually, I decide the next destination and keep it for myself. I tell my wife just on the previous day after having tankful of petrol. Just take the tank bag and leave by 4 am the next morning! No elaborate planning is involved.

Thanks for the compliments and appreciation, Ramesh. Kodai was only an excuse for a long ride.

Kodai is best visited during off-season to avoid crowds.

Well thats the way to go!! I know it has to be a breaking news for the home ministry else you'll not be able to go on such long rides coz of CBI-like enquiries!

Hmm I've got to break some rules...

Ravi Sir,
Another fantastic one day trip from your end. You sure are exceeding expectations and continue to surprise us.

Would say that you were lucky with your tire not getting punctured. Suggest you to use Tire Protector for the tires which should help a long way in preventing loss of air even during puncture. You might lose some air but it can always be topped up at the next bunk.

What do you do for maintaining your physical fitness? 1140 kms is definitely not a joke.

Thanks a lot for the compliments and appreciation, MK.

Simple. Vegetarian food and clean lifestyle habits plus daily walking [in Chennai, walking to and fro Marina beach and in Bangalore, in BBMP banyan tree park].

Thank you so much for those nice words, P.S. Let me answer some of your queries raised in other threads:

1. I electric-start my Blue Bird always as recommended in the owner's handbook. I have not faced any problem in 8,700 km I have ridden so far.

2. I am a six-footer. I find the seating comfort of my Blue Bird the best I have ridden so far.

3. I am fully satisfied with my Blue Bird. All these one-dayers are practising sessions for a big, mega ride that is in anvil.

Thank you again Ravi Sir.
You point 1 locks in the TB500 for me, point 2 increases my confidence in taking it to Jaipur from Gurgaon for official trips as well. & good luck for the Himalayas sir. I'm sure you'll have an amazing trip.

Really appreciated your answering questions even those i'd posted in the other threads.

Also, I'd been to the showroom 10 days back on Sunday. While i love the iron883 in Matt black, TB combo of Matt back with the white name plates doesn't work for me (just a personal choice)
Was more inclined to the Flicker Black than twilight blue+black till i came across your thread. Great pics sir.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Hi Ravi Sir!

You really are an inspiration to a lot of people here - really happy to know that you are having a real good time your TB500.

Mostly taking courage and inspiration from your thread, I have booked a TB500 as well. Booked in Twilight color itself, but I got a call from my SA saying a flicker and stone are readily available. He confirmed that it is a 2014 manufactured one, but was not sure if it is January or February since the bike is with the RE depot and they would get further details only if I pay in advance and then they get possession of the same.

I tried insisting that I should get the VIN number and then only I will pay. What is your opinion in buying a Jan 2014 manufactured bike (lying in the depot for a month and a half) now?

Also, is there a chance that the prices are going to come down post the interim budget and other buyers are waiting for the same - so they would like to clear the stock of the costlier bikes?

Devan.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Excellent photos of Kodai Ravi. Made me nostalgic looking at them and remembering places like the lake and pillar rock.

Why?

I had my honeymoon there. A long long time ago.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Lovely trip to Kodai and that road is a heaven to drive/ride from Bangalore. And, yet again kudos to your quest for long rides

I had visited Kodai for first time in my life in Dec-2013 and thoroughly enjoyed my trip

Shared a short photoblog on the forum of my trip :-
