Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 : My Motorcycle Diaries

Guys,
Now I again got call from the dealer telling a vehicle is available and if I can make the full payment, then they can deliver it in a week.I perticularly asked for the make and they said its 2014.But I dont trust them as I feel its too early for 2014 models. Its just a week! If I am not wrong,2014 models will start comming from late February or early March.
But this is too tempting.Should I take it or not?

Visit the dealer and check the VIN yourself. Nowadays, VIN sticker is pasted on the engine. So, it is easy to find out the month of manufacture.

I do have a problem there.

The exact word of dealer is " Sir, If you can make the full payment today,I can deliver the vehicle in a week time".
This means I get no chance to check the VIN number,

Put a counter-question to him: 'If you show the VIN, I will make the payment'. If he refuses, then it is fishy. Drop the idea and wait for few more weeks and get a 2014-make.

Thanks guys!Decided to take up the offer.I went and inspected the bike personally, and could not find any scratches or dents. It was all dusty.I am trusting my instincts and decided to take it.

Couple of questions in my mind:
1) I am taking it on Temporary Registration until the registration opens on 26th January. So, If I change the silencer and do any other modifications before that, will it hinder the registration process?

2) Any thing special I need to take care of at the time of delivery?

First look of my bird and VIN:(Thats my kid)

No. You can modify your bike even before registration except changing the engine and chassis! RTO will only check the engine and chassis numbers of the new bikes at the time of registration.

Good morning white-rabbit and let me be the very first one from this forum to congratulate you. Do take lots of pictures of your bull and start your own initial experience experience report. Looking forward to hear more from you. Ride with pride, ride with safety gears.

Congrats for getting yourself 'the bull'. Happy and safe motoring

I was also told that only 2014 models will be delivered. So i am waiting for the next lot of bikes to arrive by month end.

By the way is there any increase in the price since may 2013.
