Castrol Power 1 Racing: Fully Synthetic 4T Engine Oil for Bikes

Hello bhpians,

Wanted to know your opinions on Castrol Power 1 Racing fully synthetic engine oil. I have been using it on my bike (Honda Stunner-125cc) since it clocked 4500 kms. (Now, it has done about 15K kms). The most improved thing felt the gearbox, which became smooth like a hot knife through butter! The engine felt better & quieter after the shift from Honda engine oil but not really out of this world (Agreed not the best of the bikes to test for it). My drain interval is around 7000-7500 kms. Hence, currently its my second fill.

I am sure that many here would be using this particular engine oil, I thought it would be nice to share it & learn other's experience.

Regards,
Saket

Mine is a CBZ xtreme and I have used both Castrol power 1 and shell advance fully synthetic and found shell outperforming castrol at high rpms. Recently did a long trip of 360 kms at a continous speed of 80-100 kmph and at the end of the journey, the bike felt as smooth and responsive as it was at the start of the journey which I have never experienced before on any oil. And today, got this mobil 1 fully synthetic for 800 bucks and will pour it tomorrow. Hoping for the better side.

Re: Castrol Power 1 Racing: Fully Synthetic 4T Engine Oil for Bikes

If the Castrol Power 1 Racing oil says it is made for motorcycles including a JASO MA2 rating it would be safe to use.

Beware of oils made specifically for automobiles though.
If they refer to "energy saving" and don't mention motorcycles they may contain lubricants that can cause a wet clutch to slip.

There are also some pure "Racing Oils" that are only made for racing.
Although these racing oils contain anti-foam and high temperature additives they do not contain the additives needed to prevent long term corrosion. After all, those who race change the oil after every main event.

Yes, Castrol Power 1 racing is specifically made for bikes only. However, all in agreement when you say that oils not made for the purpose like even car engine oils can result in clutch slippage, so only bike engine oils should be used for bikes.

I would like to mention one blunder that I was going to make. I had a 4 ltr pack of Castrol Magnatec, which I use in my car. I thought its a nice oil, why to to use it on my bike too. But just before giving my bike the dose of Magnatec, I just checked on Teambhp and some other online forums. Then I came to know about how these oils can result in clutch slippage. This was when I planned for fully synthetic Castrol.

Thanks TeamBHP!
