Photo report of a Bike with an 800 engine

I have seen this thread about using 800 engine on a bike, but it was more like a Q&A rather than a report.

I believe this one deserves a separate thread since it is an actual photo report.

Yesterday I saw this strange looking bike with a 800 engine. But I didn't have my camera handy, therefore I got my camera today. Lucky me, that bike was still parked there. I managed to find the owner and we had a long talk.

Note the bike style gear shift mated to the 800 engine.

The owner is Vaibhav Singh, originally from Delhi but currently studying in MIT, Manipal. He is a final year student in Mech.Engg and this bike is his academic project.

This crushed pipe is the air filter .

He has spent about 65K on this project, and needs funding to take the project to the next level. He is planning on disk brakes, auto transmission, etc. I have invited him to join the forum so that he can provide further details on the project.

Wow, looks like the basic strutture tenmplate has been established, bike just needs some doing up and fine tuning I suppose. Love the air filter!!!!

When is he joining?? Can you please give some details about the fitting of the engine, what changes he made, etc.

Umm...I would like to say something nice about this project, but I just don't know what to say!

For a good job of planting a car engine onto a bike frame, you must see the work done by a Bombay guy, who brought his bike to the Speedrun in 2005.

Wow! How does one reach the handle bars! Geez! Good Grief! It looks like a "poor man's Indian Larry meets American Chopper". Grade A for effort though.

This is the Bombay bike I was talking about. It has a 1.3L Esteem engine in it. A very neat job which actually ends up looking like a motorcycle.

He has mated an RD350 gearbox to the Esteem engine.

Yeah, moi and Rtech checked that Esteem-engined bike last year.

I have to admit.IT was a lot civilised and practical-looking than this 800cc bike.

Long back there was an article Autocar where a guy from Punjab built a custom cruiser bike on a Gypsy engine. I remember he did a good job
