How were the Pirelli Scorpions? And are they meant for tubeless usage?
I am currently running on Pirelli Sport Demon for the rear of P220 and stock MRF in the front. I might need a change sometime soon, hence looking out.
PS:- do share a pic of the rear Scorpions if you have.

Master Tyres or Globe Engineering (Not sure if they stock Metz. Check.) are your destinations. Both in Karol Bagh. Master is authorised Metz distributor, IIRC. Their products are genuine, with bill and warranty. Pricing is below what they'd quote at SVC. Good Luck!

I don't have a pic of my own bike with the Scorpion handy, but this is the tyre I had on, the one on the right in this image. They are tubed, I used them as tubeless for 4 years, until rim sealing became a constant problem. The rim isn't bent, so the tyre's beading itself seems to have given up and had to use a tube. Grip-wise can't complain, although my hard riding days on the 220 are long gone. Was a little nervous in the wet, but did more then well at city commuting speeds. Probably won't find the same again, even if I did, I'm not sure I'd use it because it is a tube-type tyre after all and I'll keep from risking using tubed as tubeless.

Good news for Pirelli fans, the tie up with Ceat has meant that new stocks of Pirellis have started landing in stores in Bangalore. They are making multiple ranges available through this tie up.

A friend is looking for a replacement for his Harley Davidson Superlow front tyre. The stock size is 120/70 ZR18. This tyre is not available anywhere except in the showroom at 14K which is quite high. The rear was no problem as it was the same size as the Duke. What are the options for the front? I see there are hardly any options in 18". The closest I found is 110/90 ZR18 (Bullet Classic Rear) in TVS. Is this tyre size ok for the Harley?

These are the choices I found in the stock size. Which is the best of the lot?

I'm not sure if this question is already answered - searching for this is quite difficult.
We know the difference in tyre sizes will affect the speedometer / odometer accuracy. On the other hand we see different tyre sizes offered for different variants of the same car by the manufacturer. So according to variant, the manufacturer calibrates the meters?
If so, is it not possible to calibrate the meters outside too (according to the tyre size)?

To my understanding, these would be offered in all stores where Ceat also supplies their tyres. Of course, their immediate availability could also depend on whether the stores would want to stock Pirellis which is a function of local demand. One can always ask them to procure the a particular model and size, depending on individual need.

The store is located between Pizza Hut & Jimmis in Koramangala (i.e. between Sony World Signal and NGV signal, easy to find). I only enquired about the prices of the PSDs which were available.

Based on Urban Nomad's experience scouted out Globe Engineering and asked him for Michelin Pilot Street Radial for CBR 250R. He had the Michelins, but from an older lot (2012). He had (surprise !) Pirelli Sport Demons too at a mouthwatering price (Rs 3100). I was tempted to buy them but upon reading the fine print on the tyre, I discovered that the date of manufacture was 2012 too. Sigh.

He showed me IRCs for which he says he's the distributor and has the latest lot(2015) available. He showed me a video in which Pirellis, Shinkos and IRCs were tested on the track by the Motorcyclist Magazine and the IRCs apparently gave a good account of themselves. Here's the link

I asked him how soon the fresh (2015) lot of Michelin Pilot Street radials would be available and he said they have landed in his warehouse and would be available by 16th Feb.

He stocks motorcycle tyres for all bikes - from commuters to superbikes, specialises in off road / knobbly tyres and has 'H' rated tyres for all kinds of large capacity bikes. He has these brands available

• Pirelli
• Michelin
• IRC
• MRF
• Vee Rubber (apparently these are mounted on Harleys and are 'H' rated)
• Ceat

Upon asking the owner about MT helmets , I was told that a MT Revenge can be made available for about Rs 3800. Hmmm, sounds like a good price. Will have to check out the helmet for myself on 16th.

The Update

Went back to Globe Engineering but he could not procure Michelin Pilot Street Radials of 2015 make. Sigh !

Went to another shop nearby - Master Tyres. It's bang on the crossroads close to Globe Engineering. He had a Pilot Street Radial (front) of 2015 make readily available, though the cost was Rs 4000. I had it changed then & there (the now nearly bald Conti-no-go was causing scary moments, even in a straight line !). He didn't have a 140 section rear Pilot Street Radial and he aggressively tried to palm off a 150 section Pilot Street Radial saying that it's a fatter & it'll look good. I wanted the manufacturer specified 140- 70/17 rear so I asked him to source it. He said he'll give me a call in a day or two.

The shop is really small but had tyres of all kinds and all brands. In all the time I was there , the gentlemen was never free. I saw a few Metzlers, a lot of Michelins , Pirellis and MRFs being sold there. He also had tyres for the larger capacity bikes as well as scooters.

During IBW 2016 I had a word with the Pirelli officials at the CEAT stall. And what came in as a surprise to me is that the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyre (OEM fitment on European KTM Duke/RC 390) is now available in India.

Prices for the same are as below:

110/70-R17 (Front) - 4650INR
150/60-R17 (Rear) - 5850INR

As per the dealer I buy tyres from in Goa. Tyre will be in stocks from next week.

That is now some serious competition to the Michelin Street Radial tyre which (I feel) is dominating among the replacement tyre for KTM bikes.

IIRC, the 150 section rear alone retails for around 11k. If this is indeed true then bye bye Michelin; SO LONG Metzeler

Yes Sir. This is what the Goa dealer messaged me today morning. I think it is an introductory price or something.

140/70-R17 tyre costs 7700INR (A friend wanted for his Ninja 250R) So the conclusion is it seems to be introductory pricing. Its better to but a couple of sets and stock I feel
