OT: Blipping is not required while upshifting. What I do is put in a bit of pressure on the gear lever, lessen the throttle input by, say, about 500RPM and voila! Perfect gearless upshift!

Blipping is only required while downshifting to match the revs in the lower gear for the particular speed.

With regards to the topic, Aargee, have you used your bike in rains post changing the front to Rev-Z? Wanted to know your opinion on the front tyre feedback.

Re: Honda CBR 250R : Answers to some commonly asked questions

How does removing the air intake cover (I don't know if that's its right name) affect the engine? Is it advisable to ride with the cover off?

Yes using from last Aug & tried during Mumbai rains on NH4 & Chennai; there's no better tire than RevZ for now. BTW, I'm going in for my third set of front tires in another couple of thousand Km & it has to be RevZ unless there's something new in the market.

Tks for bringing back to topic

No. Pls don't do that.

I was asking as I've been told by quite a few Duke owners that the tyres are excellent on plain tarmac but one tends to lose confidence on gravel/dust/slush laden roads. Not that it skids, but the feedback that the tyres give is not very confidence inspiring.

Disclaimer: Not my opinion. Quoting a couple of friends who own the Katoom.

DS...they may be right because they haven't ridden a Conti equipped vehicle Let them try once & then they'll realize the power of RevZ

BTW, DS, I bought another MRF RevZ 110/70-17 profile last Friday; costed Rs 2750 inclusive of tax & one year warranty that was manufactured during 3rd week of Dec 2012.

At 16k on the ODO, the front tire of my bike looks best for another 3k odd kms at best. Rear tire is a different story with it being changed under warranty at about 4k.

Now, I'm mostly inclined towards the RevZ unless I get a review of the IRC. Actually the continuous central groove in the latter is a reason methinks it will do good in rains.

Just out of curiosity ,

At optimum temperature , is it ok if I pull in the clutch and rev the engine to like 8k rpm for a second so .
Does it wear out the clutch or cause any problem with engine ? I know it's stupid to do but , just a crazy thought bugging me .

Why would you want to pull the clutch and revv the engine? It is as good as revving in neutral which will fry your valves and valve springs.

I am new to biking . I was at an intersection a few days ago . And all of a sudden there was vehicles coming from all directions and as there are huge building on all corners I couldn't see them coming . I thought I'll pass them by accelerating but unknowing had pulled in the clutch and I revved the bike . I was frightened by this incident .

One off case will not harm the engine but repeated abuse will.

Don't worry. Ignore all the honking around you and concentrate on your riding and it will improve.

Any idea if it is 12 mm? I think that should be the case.

You're absolutely right & my sincere apologies to not have updated it yesterday despite I change my engine oil last Sunday evening :(

12mm for the engine oil drain bolt; 8mm for the engine oil filter cover. If possible have a spare engine oil gasket cover though it might not be needed.

Switched once again to Shell Advanced Ultra 10W40 at 5200 Km & to my horror I found the engine oil still having a golden tinge, which means, the oil is good for atleast another 1000-2000 Km. I didn't have a chance to prolong the oil change due to circumstances.

Next time, I vow to change much after 6000 Km & see how long the oil lasts.

No it will not; I've revved to 10.5K RPM several times, say atleast 2-3 times a month, which should be easily 40+ times by now & had 3-4 day long runs (engine revved highly & running for over 16+ hours) & several 8+ hours stopping only to refuel & minimal breaks (read 5 min). So far the engine is good.
