Coming back to the Duke, the frame sliders are actually bolted on to a two-bolt piece of metal which in turn is bolted on to the top two engine mount bolts.

Yeah, I'll speak to the big man Prashi himself. Good to know - Venkat (Shyam) was mentioning the same to me some time ago as well.

Look like their anchor points and fitting is in the same way as the R&G ones posted by me earlier. Look like they protrude outward a lot more as well.

Just checked on a couple of sites. They retail from anything between 120 to 140 Pounds a set. This is of course without freight, and duty.

But ,what is the issue with stock guard that comes with the bike ? .I find it good enough to protect .

Spoke to the guys at Performance Racing Store at Tardeo, Mumbai just now.

The R&G protectors, tail tidies, radiator guards, etc. for the KTM Duke 200 by R&G has been ordered and expected some time late April (3rd week was the open ended answer).

While the response to possible prices was the standard "depending on current exchange rates, freight, duty etc." spiel, the non-committed indications were as follows:

Fork Protectors: 3-4K

Swing-arm (Cotton?) Spools: 2.5-3K

Radiator Guard: 3-4.5K

Bar End Sliders: No idea (did not ask as not interested)

Tail Tidy: No idea (did not ask as not interested)

Frame Sliders: Not ordered (as crash guards already fitted by company)

I will get the radiator guard once its available, KTM fork protectors are a better deal, don't you think ?

Hi Doc (ebonho), I have a query for you. I am planning to take in my Duke for the first service tomorrow.
Primarily looking at Coolant Consumption Issue, and want to fill in Motul Oil instead of the 'BAJAJ oil'. From your experience, do the Service Centre guys let you fill in oil bought in from the market?
I have read in the earlier posts by you, that you too were contending on putting in oil of your own choice but then stuck to Bajaj Oil. Could you please elaborate the reason for the same?

they will fill the oil of it has same grade, i have asked them. Other than that they also source Motul for Ninja 250, so if you ask they can use that oil. I had asked about Motul and the service engg told me that if i bring it its fine by them but they can also arrange it. It wont affect the warranty or anything.

To take this a step further, does anyone know if the oil supplied at the workshop is mineral/semi-synth or fully synthetic?
I would think that bikes rolled out from the factory would have mineral/semi synthetic oil, no idea about what they will fill at first service.

Question: Going with fully synthetic oils like Motul 7100 20w50 at first service: Good idea? overkill? bad idea?

Considering the next service would be after 5000 kms, would prefer a fully synthetic oil as I plan to ride harder than I have been so far.

Also, I am almost at the 1000 kms mark. Want to compile a list of problems rectified in the first batch bikes, so that I can make sure they are not missed during my first service.
1. chain noise due to friction at the swingarm.
2. loose nuts/bolts/caps

Please add any more that you guys have come across.

^^ The oil they use for Duke is called as "Bajaj DTSi oil" its a Semi synth oil.

By 'Radiator Guard', do you mean on the sides of the grill in front (to protect the fins)?
