Its been 10 years since the Pulsar has been around in the motorcycle market in India.
After the original Pulsar sold for a decade, Bajaj has come out with a All New Pulsar - new looks and new technology too.
The New Pulsar is going to be called the
Pulsar 200NS
Here, NS stands for
Naked Sports.
After mentioning the words Naked Sports, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj did not deny the possibility of a fully faired version of this bike coming on to the Roads.
High Points: - Bajaj plans to sell the New Pulsar 200NS under INR 1,00,000. (Exact prices will be out next financial year 2012-2013)
- 200cc Single Cylinder, SOHC 4 Valves, Liquid Cooled, Triple Spark Engine.
- Producing peak power of 23.19 BHP @ 9500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of Torque @ 8000 rpm.
- 6-Speed Gearbox.
- Fuel Economy on 50-60 Kmpl as per IDC.
- Nitrox Mono Shock Absorber with independent gas canister at the rear.
- Finally gets a Petal Disc brake. (Both front and rear)
- Bajaj claims a 0-60 kmph in 3.61 seconds and 0-100 kmph in 9.83 seconds.
Bajaj has a patent pending for their triple-spark technology

What You'll Like: - Finally a different looking Pulsar.
- Tank looks very macho from every angle.
- Rear Mono-Suspension which should provide a more composed ride.
What You Won't Like: - Fabric / Material used on the seat.
- Rear Number Plate mount looks odd. (You can expect a full cover over the rear tyre - similar to the new Yamaha R15 2.0 for safety purpose.)
- Pro-Biking Dealerships have been given away to KTM, so the entire new range of bikes coming up will be under the usual Bajaj Dealerships.
The completely revamped headlamp looks very aggressive and give a distinct character to the bike.
The New Body Frame will enhance the riding abilities of the new Pulsar and backed up with a Mono-Suspension at the rear, the new version should not feel as nervous around the corners as its previous generation models did.
Front Brake = 280mm in diameter.
Rear Brake = 230mm in diameter. Notice the new alloy wheel design too.
Front Telescopic Forks with Anti-friction bush.
Rear gets a Gas Filled (Nitrox) Mono-Suspension.

The total revamped design gives a much needed change to the redundant and aging Pulsar series. For years we have been looking at the same tank and headlamp with a few tweaks added again and again. The re-designed tank looks great with sculpted lines which can accommodate your legs to provide for better aerodynamics.
Split Seats / Step-up Seats. (I did not like the material used on the seats)
The Speedo Console may not look as futuristic as the front headlamp design, but should do the job well.
Also notice the new design on the Clip-On Handle Bar.
Rear Disc Brake Fluid filler is located next to the rear mono-suspension.
Below, you can see the exhaust on the Pulsar 200NS. It might remind you of the exhaust we have recently seen on the KTM Duke 200.
In the image below that, you can see the short travel length of the Exhaust Pipe.
Notice the coolant level indicator behind the radiator. (green)

Rectangular Tube Section Swing Arm.
Bybre Disc Brake Assembly. (Front and Rear)
Mr. Rajiv Bajaj also mentioned that a 350cc KTM Duke is expected next year, and after that we can expect a bigger displacement Pulsar as well since the development goes hand in hand for Bajaj and KTM in India.
We can also expect a Fuel Injected variant on the Pulsar 200NS.

Absolutely great looking bike, love the aggressive naked roadster lines! Is it just me or does it look the best in yellow lol
EDIT - Can anyone confirm if it is a KTM derived Engine?
The exhaust is not very Leh/Mumbai monsoon-friendly. Else, its a very very good package. Styling, power, and hopefully pricing - all spot on.

I highly doubt this fuel economy numbers.
Overall, This is the right step for the Pulsar brand name.
The Indian motorcycle enthusiast is finally beginning to be pampered!:thumbs up
People with a budget of up to 150k seem to have some good options now. About time Hero and TVS entered this market.
Loving this bike :) We can expect this one to sell like hot cake!

Yes, I read somewhere that it uses the same platform. Also, the bore and stroke are exactly matching with KTM.

+1
On the road tests we will find out. What if the rear passenger puts his foot on the ground during traffic signals. All the heated exhaust gases will hit the leg of the rear passenger. Hope Bajaj has taken care of this problem as well.
While it is very uncomfortable to sit as a pillion rider especially on an NS bike, this is India and Bajaj can expect people to sit behind. So I just hope the exhaust does not hit the rear passenger's leg.
The exhaust shouldn't be a problem especially if this was never an issue with the older gen Pulsar. The new 200ns has a ground clearance of 167mm compared to the P220's 150mm. Also its positioned far away fron the rear pillion foot pegs.
The underbody exhaust also contributes towards better handling due to the lower and more centralised mass.
Wow, a super cool bike for less than a lakh. Excellent pricing strategy by Bajaj hereclap: parrys, is there a typo in the fuel efficiency? 50-60 KMPL is too good for 200 CC bike. My 7 year old discover 125 never goes over 45KMPL :(
Kudos to Bajaj for the execution of the new pulsar. Looks very attractive and i particularly like the tail . The headlights look nice too and 23 odd hp sounds decent on paper. Overall a job well done.
