It looks like a cross between the P135 and FZ (parked right next to it). It does not appear quite bulky as the pics seem to suggest.
First impression : Light weight and flickable! |
Where do you work? Asking because I might just know the owner/rider/tester.

On the 13th Feb, I saw debadged versions of this bike (in all different colors) outside of Aditya Shagun mall in Bavdhan. Could be a gang of Bajaj engineers still testing the bike?
Was late in the evening and sorry I didnt click!
My impression - the bike doesnt look big, but it looks good and quality seemed much better than the present Pulsars.
Apologies for taking the pictures in bright sunlight with a phone cam.
The dusty instrument cluster :
The 200 Tri-spark engine, hidden under there somewhere...!
I liked this neat looking mudguard and also the well integrated saree guard. Good job BAL!
Somehow, this non-discrete fuel switch looks out of place !
With the under-engined Yam Fazer :

yes , the testers had come for a cup-a-coffee at moto cafe
The plastic bits around the tank look different (read - "less handsome") and the registration plate is just totally badly placed. Let's wait for the launch of the final product, of course.
Its hard to believe that its the same bike that looked so good in the official pictures!

I say, this will be pretty much as close to the final product as it will finally get.
Forgot to mention yesterday, the quality and fitting of the switchgear looks great. At par with the segment.
There is some exposed wiring, like those going to the indicator and taillamps. But they have been clipped to the body and are not loose or flapping around. My worry is that it is an open invitation to vandalism.

:)
you gotta consider the dust, un-optimum visual surrounding, lighting, a guy with a mobile camera, a ridden bike, random rather than chosen angles
I myself am even more floored that the design shown WAS the production model.
I wish I could buy it.
but I dont want to bring in a "saut" for my already neglected P180...:D

The Pulsar 200NS at the Launch.
The Pulsar 200NS which you saw in your parking.
(Compare to the pictures in the opening post)
Now, I wonder what Bajaj is doing to the actual production bike.
Noticeable changes:
- Engine cover / case appears to be silver coloured unlike the golden case at the launch.
- The black finish on the tank and side center panels is now gone. It is all body coloured.
- Also, the headlamp is body coloured and no black finish on the sides.
We will have to wait and watch if Bajaj brings out variants of the 200NS which look different - visually, like the bike at the launch and the one spotted. Or BAL just takes all that looked good at the launch and keeps everything body-coloured.

When are they planning to come next?
Any tester with KTM200 has also visited the cafe for refreshments?

I guess this difference in color could be due to the difference in indoor lighting of the launch hall VS open parking.
The toolkit/airfilter cladding was in black, not body colours, and extended onto the tank - visually cutting down its bulk. I hope there's some edition in the original colour scheme.
Now that the bike is finally released , I've to choose between this and the avenger 220 ! Can you guys help me out. The new avenger is expected by 2013 with this engine,so if I buy the avenger now it'll be out of date in just a period of one year. Also the mileage claimed by the new engine is too irresistible. Please help me out here fellas. It'll take me another 2 months to book so I should get my choice straight !

Hi!
Depends as to what kind of rider you are. The Avenger is a cruiser whereas the P-200 NS shall be a Sports Bike.
For lazy riding the Avenger it is. May prove to be a bit daunting inside city confines (long wheelbase & isn't as flick-able/nimble as a P-200) and while traversing bad/no roads.
The P-200 NS will be for attacking good roads with corners at speed and will prove to be faster than the Avenger under most conditions. It should handle & brake well than the Avenger.
And can you post a link where there is the scoop of new Avenger & its configuration?
I would say go for any bike which you like, don't miss out on riding days ahead of you :)
