Suggestions on a Scooter for my lady..Activa / Pleasure

Planning to buy a scooter for my wife. The options are shortlisted to Activa and Hero Honda Pleasure.

Both are technically almost similar. They have similar engines (102 CC 7 BHP). Suspension and braking are similar. As per the dealers, Please is 5 LM/L more efficient than Activa in mileage.

Pleasure looks very feminine. Good choice of colors. 90%, this will be used by my wife for commute to work. I will be using it for trips for groceries. I prefer to ride my cycle for shorter commutes. Activa doesn't have too many feminine elements.

Activa is very heavy, Pleasure is feather light compared to Activa. Activa has steel body compared to Pleasure's fibre body. Wondering if Activa scores here in damage during any crash and small hits which are common. If going for Pleasure, my wife wants to put steel crash guards. I am against those because they spoil looks of the sweet looking Pleasure. The light weight should be helpful during stop and go situations.

There are no discounts on either of them. Activa is cheaper by Rs. 1000. Service for either of them should be good. Never had experiance with Honda, but i was a happy Hero Honda customer for 10 years, especially during the 4 years of my CBZ ownership.

The Activa i tested is very smooth and the braking was excellent even after 20K kms. Knowing HeroHonda, it should also be on par with Activa.

The only things that is limiting my decision is safety and weight. Being steel body, Activa should be safer but in turn it is heavier.

Folks, Please help me with your suggestions.

Pics of Pleasure (Sorry poor quality due to the bad phone camera)

Satish, Activa has many complaints! Check the review in MouthShut.com. Go for HH Pleasure! It should be a good one...!

would you buy an Unicorn or an Acheiver?

similarly Pleasure and Activa. Both maybe sharing teh same engine, but sold with slight modification under diffrent brands.

either way, its a Honda!

and if you get activa, you too can ride it without another thought! why? Pleasure is marketed for ladies and hence

and yes check out the Nova and ahoo.

I would recommend the DIO. It costs 2k more than the Activa but is worth the look.

We have an activa for the last 3 years or so and i would say its quite good qualitywise and maintanance wise. Ofcourse those small tyres for that matter any scooterette doesnt do justice to the Back!!

I prefer the activa looks to the Dio

The way I felt riding Dio....I did not like it. I was not comfortable on the seat. I kept slipping down to the front.

Read the BSM review (lastest edition) on Pleasure, they give it a major thumbs up.

if i had to buy a scooterete now then i would go in for pleasure. nice colours and very charming and attractive. activa is good too but better to have something which is new.

my decision for pleasure would also be influenced by its ad too. why should boys have all the fun.

so be it, the pleasure for all ladies.

Sathish... I am a bit surprised seeing the suggestions here. IMHO Activa will be a better buy. When you buy something you need to look at some long term issues as well. Activa is a pure-bred Honda and is proven. There are 100s of them on the road. At least looks like something worthy compared to all those other non-geared vehicles.

And now the big reason (in my opinion). Being a Hyderabadi I know the traffic and the horse-**** of a driving sense that most people here seem to have. With a light weight scooter like a Pleasure the moment you have a small bump or the vehicle falls down you may end up with a broken panel (==stiffer repair bills). Also, god forbid if the impact happens to be a little harder than a small bump with Activa you may get away with a bent panel but with the Pleasure the risks for physical injury to the rider could be huge.

I think Activa is more suited to our city and its traffic scenario.

I would vote for Activa too which is a proven one. Not too impressed with the looks of Pleasure. Plus as some one pointed out, Activa can be used by anyone in the family.

Cheers
