Same problem on my 2010 xtreme which is sparingly used on rubbish roads in Bangalore .
It vibrates a lot , some of the plastic parts are the culprits , you can reduce the vibrations by properly tightening all the nuts , bolts fasteners and basically anything that becomes loose over a period of time . A good mechanic must be able to do it , but no one really does it including the ASCs
Check the bearing on the front wheel for wear and tear . Replace if necessary before working on the disc brakes. Replacing bearings are relatively cheaper than replacing the disc brake .
I too feel that the disc brake lack bite , most other bikes have a really sharp bite . Front disc brake on hero bikes feel very spongy after some time. Try to replace the pad and re bleed the brake fluid. If it does not improve you can change the disc brake system.
My mechanic gave me a nice idea , he said he could install Karizma 's bigger disc on the front and replace the drum brakes on the rear with a disc brake. I had seen his work on a few bikes too ,it was pretty good . It involved replacing the swing arm , I did not venture into it since the cost was high and the bike is already 4 years old. |
