Re: Hero Impulse

Yes, someone has already fitted a Karizma engine onto a Hero Impulse!

Am still surprised how he managed to alter the exhaust pipe to fit Karizma's bigger exhaust port.

Re: Hero Impulse

Niks, these are great videos! I am convinced: the Impulse is a true off-roader!

Woo hoo, this is the post I was waiting for!

Questions:

*Any mods or was it a stock Impulse?
*How did she do, did she struggle to climb through the passes fully loaded, or not?
*What about on the highways where you could open it up, was the bike fast enough to cover ground, or did it seem like it was taking too long?
*Any idea how she'd do with a pillion on board as well, in that terrain?
*How did the parts/plastics/fittings hold up under the road/riding conditions?

I'd love to do Ladakh again, but on a lighter bike than my Bullet. Was wondering if the Impulse was the one, but was not sure about the torque and power. Please do share your thoughts.

I just got the wire in the carb (main jet) mod done from a local mech. costed 100/- to put and 20/- to remove. it did not feel underpowered after that.it cud actually be one of the fastest indian bike in that terrain all thanks to the grippy tyres , awesome suspension and great steering-seat-pegs geometry.

on the highways i was doing 90-100 mostly , which was fast enuf for our roads.

the pillion wud be comfortable but am not sure how smoothly it will climb the top of the passes where there is slush/ice/mud and potholes. it shud do just about fine thats wht i believe.

there was no breakage of any panels or losening on worst off road conditions too.

The 7th one is the best of the lot IMO.

Re: Hero Impulse

Very nice indeed. How did you manage the fuel bit, given the low tank capacity?

Re: Hero Impulse

Beautiful pictures, Niks! The bike just blends with the surroundings and those pics will force you to believe that this bike is indeed made for these adventures.

Same question as above, how did you manage the gas given that the tank capacity is not too much? Did you carry any Jerry can around? Never been to these places so not sure how often you can find petrol bunks to top up when you are on such expeditions.

One more question, am sorry if it was already answered. Did you ride all the way there or did you first send it to Delhi like most of the folks do and then started the journey?

Once again, great pictures and thanks for sharing.

Best,
R-Six

Thanks Doc. I was getting 33-35 before I put the wire in the carb. after that I was getting 39-43kmpl (better combustion because of mod)

The pagal Naala was dry , didn't encounter any difficult water crossing , just the small ones

I just needed fuel for the zanskar stretch coz there wasn't any fuel pump for 500 kms . the bikes range was somewhere around 450.

Thanks. I didnt have to carry gas except for the Zanskar stretch. There are only two sections where you wud need to carry fuel , 1st is if u wish to go to zanskar valley , 2nd if u wish to do pangong tso-hanle-tso moriri stretch.
we did a delhi to delhi trip. I had sent my bike thru Gati.
