I have ridden the CBR enough to understand how it performs Sir. For me, an upgrade is not only/necessarily in terms of power. :)

Please, no need to call me sir. I am not knighted yet!
Apologies, I did not know you had ridder the ceeber for a long time.
BTW, any clues when the new 300r will be launched? Are they still manufacturing the 250?

Yes they are still manufacturing the 250R albeit in lower numbers. But I see bookings for it. The dealers are clueless about 300R.
Meanwhile...
It was extremely difficult to take a picture rather than riding to clock this!! I think this is the first time I've ever got a number in all these years

The reasons I am opting a Honda (CBR) after owning a Duke and riding it for almost 11000 km are a combination of changing needs and frustrating niggles that keep cropping up, giving one a feeling that it is not built to last. These are strictly my thoughts and experiences. In the interest of this thread, I will not go into details. |
Thanks, I do get your point. Precisely the reason, I am yet to sign the dotted line. I maybe missing on a couple of things, but considering SVC's distance, I better stick to what I am riding currently.
Hope you have a fuss-free ownership, prime reason you being opting for the CBR-250R.
Where is the R25?
I am now thinking of getting the 'to-be-phased-out' CBR250R. I am losing patience waiting for the updated bike since September last year. Out of frustration, I did go get a test ride of the Thunderbird 500 last weekend, and I realized I am not an Enfield person!
So I am thinking of getting the current CBR250R ABS version, as there is absolutely no buzz / signs of the update CBR250R being launched here - they are open mouthed about the 650R launching in July, but not this one ! :Frustrati

We are sailing in the same boat buddy. Anyway, I took the plunge and got the CBR delivered yesterday.
RG Sir apologies for hijacking again, but tempted to flaunt my new toy :D

Hearty Congratulations ! And that is a decision I am almost taking now. I am just waiting to ride a CBR250R for at least 4-5 kms before I sign on the dotted line. And since there is no other bike I have in mind, I am most likely putting my money on the current bike. Would have been one of the first customers of the face-lifted model, had Honda not been so lethargic.
Guys need some information here. Where exactly is the coolant reservoir? I am used to monitoring the coolant level on the Duke and would prefer to do the same with the CBR too.
I am able to check the engine oil level in the oil level window quite easily but unable to find the coolant level window. Couldn't find it in the FAQ thread and the manual is not very clear about this either.

Pls identify the part as shown in the picture below; remove the screw marked at 1 & you can see the cap covering the coolant reservoir & ensure the coolant to be between MIN & MAX level.
PS - Google baba says this...

Congrats Suhas. Welcome to the Honda family. Hope you will have a niggle-less and less frustrating ownership.
We should catch up sometime :)

Thank you Santosh! Remember the nandi hills ride when you'd just got your CBR and I was on my Karizma? Long long back that was! Looking forward to ride soon bro!
Hi all, need help. My CBR 250R refuses to start. I have been busy of late and haven't been able to take it out for a spin in last 4 weeks. Have been trying to crank it up for last 2 days but just doesn't fire up. Self drained out the battery once. I took the battery to a local mech and got it charged up again today but same results when I plugged it back in. Will take it to workshop if I can get it started. don't want it hauled up at the back of a pickup. Any pointers that help fix the problem temporarily will be helpful.
Thanks, Sid

So many possibilities as why it wouldn't start; anyway, try the following simple steps in the order below, if none of these works, ASC is your best bet
- Check if the turn lights, neutral lights, head lamps are glowing
- Remove for any loose/fungus contacts in the engine kill switch, if you can open it
- Engage the clutch & give a start
- Check the battery terminals for phosphorus & check for the charge again
- Check the fuse (by replacing with spare fuse, except the 30A one) provided underneath the seat
- Last but not the least, give a push start & see if it helps, but only for once & give it real good try possibly from a slope & in the 2nd gear only

Thanks aargee. It's not a battery issue. All lights are fine. Kill switch is good too. Self start cranks the engine and I can hear the cranking sound of engine but it doesn't fire up. Seems the spark plug or some other issue. Will take it to ASC if it starts for once. In my college years, we used to clean the spark plug of my shogun. Not sure if I should do the same with this one.

When was the last time you refueled? If its more than 15-20 days, just change the fuel completely & give a try, it should work.
Try to accompany a mild throttle when it cranks, it should be able to start
