All the news reports, pictures and rumors suggest this is going to be a cosmetic upgrade. I wish they would launched a 250 version of this bike it could have given the ninja 250 a good run for its money. Also read some rumors that the power on this bike is likely to be be around 19bhp. I am quite interested to go for this bike, I have a pulsar 200 right now. What do you guys think is it worth it or should I consider something else.:)

please:Hoping against hope there is a power and engine displacement increase.

:OTI was thinking about replacing my R15 with Ninja next year. I would love to have another Yamaha in my porch. I hope this is it. I can't wait any longer.

CBR 250R, Ninja 250R, R15 V2, KTM DUKE 200, MOJO 300 are the choices for the enthusiasts at a price range of 1-3 L . DUKE and MOJO are yet to launch.

Wallpaper of the New R15. Enjoy :)

Found it on XBHP.

Bike is a looker, but I'd get rid of the circular part of the rear mud guard and the infamous saree guard :D

Excited about tomorrow!

Funny looking chain case right? Weirdly half naked. :O

Did not like the tail lights a bit! Neither the alloys! The tyre and faring looks good. What all color options will be there?

Overdrive just tweeted that the pricing of the new R15 is 8k more, it's 1.07 lacs ex-showroom, Delhi. I thought that they were going to price it competitively. Anyways, hope there's some more performance upgrades. They have said that while the earlier R15 was 40% utility and 60% sports oriented, the new one would be just 20% utility.

Some official news on the webcast:
Cosmetic upgrades mostly:
- Wider tyre F(90/80-r17), R(130/70-r17)
- Split seats
- Aluminium Swing arm
- Led tail lamps
No power upgrades apparently :Frustrati
Still awaiting info on the price the webcast suddenly blacked out.

Price in Mumbai is said to be 1.2 Lakhs approx, I am guessing this is for Thane/Vashi - add in a few more grand for Mumbai passing.

The old one was 1,15,000 with Thane octroi passing. I guess this one would be ~1.24 lacs or something around that. I'd rather save up a few grands more and go for a CBR :)

The riding position looks good in the picture but could be deceptive.
The bike seems to have some visual modifications which can be commented only after seeing it in flesh.
Hope it is for the good.
The price is on the higher side for no performance improvement considering the increase in tyre size.
Is this for the road or the tracks?
The web video cast is not connecting.
Can someone help with other options?

Huge disappointment for the Yam fans.
Power being the same (17 bhp) but increase in the weight by 5 kgs :(

If the engine performance drops due to excess weight (suspension upgrade would mean better ride/handling), then current owners have no reason to sulk :D

+1 to that. Also it does not make much sense for current R15 owners to ditch their bike for the R15 V2. Still bike looks more awesome now. clap:

“Having witnessed the tremendous fan following received by the existing YZF-R15, we are very excited about the launch of the YZF-R15 version 2.0 which promises to deliver greater performance and enhanced features. Seeing the trend, the market for premium bikes in India offers immense scope as this segment consists of people who are looking for performance characteristics. The YZF-R15 version 2.0 is an upgraded version of our flagship bike YZF-R15 and is designed keeping in mind the comfort as well as the thrill of a sports ride. The YZF-R15 has been continuously gaining ranks in the hotly contested premium segment since its launch 3 years ago and we are sure to repeat the same feat for the new version too. With the festive season round the corner, we expect the new model to be an instant hit amongst biking enthusiasts” – Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & Managing Director, India Yamaha Motor
Quote:

India Yamaha Motor today launched the YZF-R15 version 2.0 – a 150cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke fuel injected bike. The YZF-R15 version 2.0 is a new model that has been developed under the concept of a “Graded Up R15.”

The new bike is priced at Rs. 1,07,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be available in Racing Blue, Midnight Black & Sunset Red colors.

NEw bits include a newly designed middle cowl, tail cowl, split seat, LED taillights, new exhaust pipe & silencer specs. The newly designed middle cowl features improved aerodynamic performance at higher speeds – the aerodynamic resistance value is 4% better than that of the existing YZF-R15. The R15 version 2.0 also sports the first aluminum swing arm in the 150cc segment in the Indian market and has a truss structure that enables greater rigidity while improving handling in the turns. The new seat design enables a better feeling of seat grip in sporty riding. Also, “low front, high tail” design enables a riding posture that is well suited to both sporty riding and everyday riding around town.

The new ECU control and drivetrain unit specs ensure that riders enjoy improved off-the-line acceleration and high speed performance. The silencer protector has also been newly designed in a way that adds cadence to overall styling. It adopts a carbon-look pattern on the surface as well as a model nameplate to add to the high-performance image and the feeling of quality. To improve the feeling of clutch operation, a more rigid clutch axle shaft than the existing type has been adopted. Furthermore, the pulley that serves as a medium between the throttle wire and throttle valve has been changed to a perfect circular type to improve the linearity of the throttle action and thereby achieve better response. The wider 130mm radial rear tire and 90 mm front tire impart reduced roll resistance, high-speed cornering stability and improved handling performance. A larger 220mm diameter rear disc brake has been adopted to achieve a better balance with the new rear tire size and ensure good braking power.

Another interesting aspect of the bike is the mud guard and sari guard attached to the swing arm which enhances the exterior design product value. The new design of 5-spoke cast wheels achieves the necessary strength balance while creating a sense of lightness at the same time.
