Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

Atleast it is not people jumping off cliffs or ships on their bikes, so it is an improvement . I actually like the new ad. Just hope they back this with some actual improvements in their products instead of just new paint jobs.

Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

Saw the advt. yesterday & loved it. New tagline 'hum mein hain hero' also feels better compared to 'Desh ki Dhadkan' or 'Dhak Dhak Go'.

As has been said earlier, I would like to see better looking models & engines rather than just change of panels/decals around an engine shared among multiple models.

Hats off to ARR for creating another great composition.

Gives a great start to Hero MotoCorp.

Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

Guys what happens to the branding on the existing Hero Honda Bikes? Are they selling all the bikes with Only hero logo?

Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

They can use all brandname ,tech ,patents, designs and manufacturing process ,which are honda intlctproperties till 2014.
Although they want to do away with brand name as fast as possible,so that when they come with there own engineering to market in 2014, people already know the brand .
Hefty fee has been paid for extended loan of tech and designs.
Doing away with all the tech will be the chalnge not marketing I guess.

Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

Two questions come to mind.

1. Which was the last new motorcycle they launched not considering the body touchups?

2. Do they have any new motorcycle coming up?

Sadly, This company has done well even though no new motorcycles have come up since Karizma.

The last new bike would be either ZMR if you call it one or the Hunk I think.

They have announced Hero Impluse (Hero Impulse) post break up.

Evene with Honda they rarely launched new models.

I dont think hero honda ever came up with an all new motorcycle.
All motorcycles in there stable were in production in some form or other, somewhere else on earth
Either under honda brand or some similar joint venture.
They usually changed only exterior panels etc that to very little.
Even these minor changes were undertaken by people from honda japan, not the hero guys. Hero honda for itself had a very small r&d that obviously didnt do much.

Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

ZMR and Hunk and even the Impulse are just body panel changes.

Impulse with that engine is no dirt bike.

It is a wonder people keep buying their bikes even when they havent seen any innovation.

Look at Pulsar and Apache on the other hand.

^^Their only real good products were the CD 100 series and it's derivatives. Then the Karizma.

Buyers in the CD 100 segment won't seek innovation if something works, and works well. For them the bike is just a tool.

Question should be, 'Do they have an R&D dept?'They might have a P&S dept though, panels and stickering dept.

Re: "Hero Honda" to become "Hero MotoCorp Ltd."

These days they are on overdrive, recruiting ppl from r&d of bajaj, tvs and RE.
But If you ask me, I wonder if they can suddenly invoke a soul and a character as a motorcycle company after being just an assembler for such a long time.

As said, the long lasting was CD100 (my friend still rides all original Japanese engine), Splendor (which got crapier with + and what all variants) and Karizma.

Splendor an out come of CD100
Hunk/Xtreme/ZMR an out come of CBZ

Impulse? lets go for test ride and have it check after doing some jumps over humps. I guess that is how a dirt bike test ride should be, isn't it .

Pulsar, 150 old was an impact. However, 180,200,220,135 are with no innovaton. Open up the engine of an old 150cc and new 220, they all have the gudgeon pin and needle sleeve bearing of the same size.

Precisely my point. We are talking about the largest two wheeler maker in India.

They do have a huge working capital, but do they have the knowhow?

Look at how Kinetic fell after Honda left them to die.
