Speaking on a recent Red Bull podcast, Adrian Newey revealed a bunch of details about Red Bull's upcoming hypercar, the RB17.



Newey confirmed that the RB17 will feature a 1000 BHP producing naturally-aspirated V10 which redlines at 15,000 rpm. It will come paired with a small electric motor, with the main purpose of providing first and reverse gears, while also smoothening out the power delivery across the range.

The hypercar itself is expected to have a kerb weight of just 900 kg. The aerodynamic downforce of the car is capped at 1.7 tonnes, with the hypercar achieving peak downforce figures at 150 km/h. Red Bull has partnered with Michelin to supply tyres specifically designed for the RB17.

Newey claims the RB17 will be one of, if not the most aerodynamically efficient cars ever made. The RB17 will borrow a blown diffuser from the F1 car but will use multifunctional active suspension - making it slightly more comfortable than a current F1 or LMP1 race car. Adrian also states that the target for the RB17 is to achieve lap times similar to that of current F1 cars.

The RB17 will be limited to just 50 units, one of which will go to Adrian Newey himself. Customers lucky enough to own an RB17 will also get access to several packages from Red Bull. This includes training packages offering customers simulator experiences of the RB17 before taking delivery.

The RB17 hypercar will make its debut sometime next year, possibly at the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix. Production and delivery is scheduled for 2026.
