Change oil every 6000kms. you don't need to spend that much.
Hey Tanveer,

Which oil do you recommend for Swift Diesel at 5000 km change. I plan to change it during the second service.
I put Mobil delvac super1300 15 w 40 in the first service.

Castrol GTX diesel API-CI4 or the Shell Super diesel API-CG4 should be good for you

I didn't source it. The service center guys used that themselves.

One question. Seeing that you have already completed 85,000 kilometers using mineral oil, why change now? the extra expense of the synthetics will not really make sense at this stage of your engine's life.

Personally, if it were my car, I'd continue using high quality mineral oil.

Thanks Rtech and Tsk,

Will keep that in mind during next service.

LOL, I take my words back.
But its still commendable that instead of going GTD for all engines regardless of whether they were designed in 2007 or 1907(ala tata), Maruti engineers actually understand that you need a higher grade oil for modern engines

Kavesh, A semi-synth formula like the 10W40 Castrol Magnatec would do for the fiat.

Is it necessary ?

Why the hell doesn't MUL say so in the manual then ?

Will make sure that they do it this time though

No need to change the oil filter in the first service. Oil filter used is a very robust green filter and needs change only after every 10000 KM and so is the oil going forward.

Don't worry go by what MUL manual says.

Eddy, the oil filter accumulates all the engine burr ,dirt and other undesired substances in the oil.
Replacing the oil filter every time U change oil is mandatory for any engine.

My Spark is due for first servicing (check up) on 8th December. It would have completed 775/800 kms by then.

The manual does not recommend oil change at 1k, but only at 5k.

Is it advisable to change oil during the check up?

TIA
