An uneventful oil change.

I had ordered filter and Amsoil Signature Series for my Altis which had arrived in early July. Due to work pressure, I could not get time to change the oil. Today I finally got some time and headed to our FNG. He did not bother to check the boodmo packet of filter, neither did I. After draining the old oil and removing old filter we discovered that the oil filter I ordered, was not compatible with the Corolla. It was an Innova fit. So unluckily, I had to clean the old filter and reuse it with the fresh oil.

Just get the Corolla filter, unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. Top up whatever little oil is lost in this process. Simple enough.

Hi
A quick query about 0w20 and 0w30 engine oil. My 2023 I20 was filled with 0w30 shell helix ultra fully synthetic engine oil for the 30k km service. But the owner's manual recommends 0w20 engine oil. Is there any drastic difference between them?

Almost nothing except a little fuel economy lost for more engine protection

I wish I knew this before 1 year... I was using fully synthetic oil for my yamaha scooter, (changed from an FNG). I developed suspension and clutch issues and thus gave it for service at a yamaha ASS. They filled mineral oil for the next service, and on my next spirited driving session my engine seized up

This is not possible. They must have overfilled, under-filled or did not put back oil at all. Mineral oils are good enough for any kind of spirited riding but not racing, where the engine doesn’t get time to cool at all. Not possible in our cities.

As long as the oil meets your engine spec it can be mineral, synthetic or anything else. Doesn’t really matter if you change synthetic to mineral any more than it does if you eat dal roti for dinner after having lunch at a star hotel.

Getting service of my 2017 Rapid TDI done at a fng.
They use wurth engine oil, I'm not too sure about it, so thinking of getting the best synthetic oil by myself.
This is what the manual states:

Confused between Shell Helix Ultra and Liqui Moly 5W40
Any suggestions on which one is more performance oriented, as i have a spirited 20+20 km runs 5 to 6 days a week on the JNPT highway
Also good places where i can get them in or around Panvel/Navi Mumbai?

P.s Liqui moly also has a different can called Molygen and a grey and a blue can too

Switch to Liqui Moly Molygen 5w40, if you can. It is VW 502 00 certified. This is one of the best you can get for your car. Expensive but the molygen additive do make the engine smooth and slight better fuel economy.

I have tried this on my Rapid 1.0 TSI. The difference was clearly evident.

My bad. Did not see the TDI salutation. In that case the Top Tech is the best you can buy. Have seen multiple owners (Who I know personally) using this.

502 usually comes with 505 00 and that is not compatible with 505 01

You can get a 504 00 / 507 00 oil and that is compatible. For example these
