well thats absolutely true. id pay the 900 bucks just to be 100 % sure . Just to know that my oil comes from the right place.
but anyway thats not why im posting
the reason i am , is that i have gone throught the same process as cynerverdie as well .
so cynerverdie u got a friend
guys just call mobil 1 in india and end the speculation !!
here is what i was quoted by some bhushan guy.. forgot full name but had got his number in bombay from mobil1 headquaters in New Delhi, The number to the Delhi place is :- 18001801281 .
call them and they will give you a list of official mobil 1 guys in mumbai.. Call any from that list. i called this bhushan guy from the list . they gave me the list of the Mumbai guys INSTANTLY !! via e-mail.
so i called bhushan and he quoted 2900 + taxes which i think is 16.5 % on top.
He also home deliveried the oil.Forget the exact amount i paid but it was close to 3500 i think.
So yes cyneverdie. i think you have got the correct rates from the correct people.
Good on you ! Join the peace of mind club

Right sysnthetic oil for Petra 1.6 and place to obtain in NCR (Noida)

Hi Mods

Although I am not a member of team BHP but regular visitor (almost addicted to it) since I bought my second car 15 months back. It is FIAT Petra 1.6 ELX. Of course FIAT has stopped its production.

After knowing the benefits of synthetic oil, I want to change from mineral oil to synthetic oil next month. My travel is 700-800 km a month (10-15km a day and then rest on weekend).
My car is regularly serviced by Samyak Motors, Delhi.

I seek suggestions for the following:
1. which synthetic oil to use
2. wherefrom I should buy it?
3. Should I get it changed from Samayak or from the dealer?
4. pracautions during oil change.

I have looked for available information. Youe advice would be helpful.

Surprisingly, Samayak said that no appreciable benefit should be expected.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards

To all the tech gurus out here:

Am considering to switch from the regula oil which Honda uses 20W -50 (on my OHC) to Castrol Magnetec 15W-40. just want to know if its safe to do so as the grade is different?

Also whats the diffrence btween these grades?

my getz 1.3 has run 14000 kms.

i would like to change the oil to synthetic.

so here are my questions.

1) will it be the right time to change the oil. @2nd service the service centre had changed the oil @9000kms.

2) which would be the best brand to use. (model number, grade etc)

reading all previous posts, i think mobil 1 and shell helix is good. so do

suggest which grade to use.

3) which brand of engine flush to use.

4) should i change the oil filter also. if yes. which brand. or should i just

change it to the oil filter sold by hyundai

problems which i faced while changing to synthetic oil.

the oil i chose was mobil 1 5w50 costing 3100 for 4lts.

the engine flush was from abro.

hyundai refused to change the oil and fill in mobil 1, as they said they do

not allow parts from outside. they even refused to sell me the oil filter,

saying i will have to fit the oil filter at hyundai only using the oil provided at

the service centre. so finallly i had to buy the oil filter from outside and fill

up the oil at a local garage. finally after doing all this i was super happy as

my getz engine was super silent.

now when filling in the next quota of synthetic or mineral oil. should i do the
engine flush again.

Was it trident or advaith? I do not think you will face any issues at trident, inner ring road.

Can U provide pucca detailed data on why engine flush should be used every time oil is changed??
And what are the consequences of not using engine flush every time the oil is changed?
With proof, please.

I am buying a Baleno(2004) which has done some 85k odd kms. My questions to the forum are as follows
1> Firstly whether I should switch to Synthetic or not at this stage? If not then I plan to stick to Castrol Magnatec.
2> If yes, whether I should flush the engine as I read that Engine flush in old engines can cause issues in the future like opening up leaks etc
3> Which oil should I be buying ? I meant the oil grade.
Would really appreciate some assistance in this regard.
