Yes sir,i intend to buy the oil from there. Moreover i am a regular customer:)

Hi,
got the oil change done today. Here are pics of the can.Didn't shoot pics of the specs at the back as the print was too fine to read.

@sumeet , how much per can ? .What's the outcome ?

I don't know if this has been discussed before (this thread is too long to keep track of everything that has been written in it) but my Maruti mechanic called me up to say that Mobil 1 is now available with all Maruti authorised service stations and they will sell exactly the quantity needed for your car.
If this information is already there I would suggest mods to delete it please.

I am sitting at Maruti Service Masters, Chennai right now and they have the Mobil/Shell oils for the K series engines only. The specs are different (10W30 I think). For older gen cars it is good old MGO only!

is this shell helix a semi synthetic one(going by it's cost)?

15W40 is pretty much mineral

Hi black12rr, it cost me 146 bucks for a half litre can each. After filling the oil in the engine the car feels smooth and pretty much silent just as the cans themselves advertise. But then i moving on from MAK lubricants so the difference may vary for other people.I am definitely happy about my decision to go in for the Shell and it's worth going the extra mile (62 Kms + 60 bucks toll for me) to get it.:thumbs up

Hi rock75, the shell HX5 is a mineral oil.

I doubt that but i am not sure.I got my oil change done from my regular service station KK brothers Andheri (w) SV road next to the fire bridage, before Azad lane. It's on route to shoppers stop.

All Shell stations will do the oil change if you want them to, but not the oil filter.

Hi,

Just got back after giving my city zx for servicing and asked the SC guy to switch the engine oil from semi synthetic idemitsu 10w-30 to fully synthetic.

They recommended idemitsu 0w-30 fully synthetic engine oil.

Kindly advice if that is the right oil change for city zx.

Assuming the SC you refer to is an Honda authorised SC, then go ahead. Though I believe 0w-30 oil would be a too thin for a tropical country like India unless one is living in the northern hill stations. IMHO 5W-30/10W-30 or 5W-40 synthetic would be better but go with what Honda recommends. See your manual for recommended grades in Mumbai's ambient temps.

But do you really need that synthetic oil? Mineral oil would do pretty good if you use it for normal duty cycles as long as you change the oil regularly.

Cheers!

R2D2, its was the Honda SC who recommended 0w-30 which really ticked me to ask here if that's the correct grade.

The job's already been done and the oil switched to fully synthetic 0w-30 and after a short drive I felt the car not as smooth as it use to be on semi-synthetic 10w-30 oil, maybe I need to still drive a couple of kms to really comment.

Thanks thou.

Moving to a thinner oil will give you that feeling of 'roughness'. I too would not comfortable with 0W-30 (even if synth) in Mumbai. But not to worry if it is recommended by Honda. They obviously know what they're doing better than the likes of us customers.

Cheers!
