This whole Mobil 1 pricing business outside of Mumbai sounds like a freaking scam? And yeah, daylight/train/plane robbery etc.

More or less the same here. 660 for a liter it was at the shell gas station today.

My innova clocked 28000 Kms and at 30000 Kms i want to switch to synthetic oil in innova.

I asked to toyota dealer he told me that they uses 7 litres 20W 40 mineral oil.

So which synthetic oil should i have to go for ?

Mobil1 ? 7 Litres ? Any Specific Grade ?

20W40 is the worst oil any engine can have.
Infact, i use 15W40 mineral oil in my Sumo.
If u have a petrol innova, use 5W50 grade. 8 litres will cost u around 5000 bucks.

The Instruction Manual might have the required specs for Engine oil mentioned. For eg., my Elantra book specifies API CF4 and above, or ACEA B4 and above, and 15w-40. After tons of reading, and frustration, I finally figured that that best suitable one could be Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40. Unfortunately, was never able to source it, although the above link is from their India web site. Please try, and if you can figure where to get it, please let me know too. And GTO could possibly help, he is lucky to have a Mobil distributer for a cousin...

And right now running Mobil 1 5W-50 (powerfreak uses it in his Elantra CRDi, so figured no harm). Meets the ACEA and API specs, but different grade.

Another viable option would be Shell Helix Ultra 15w-50. Link for Shell - http://www.shelldubai.com/industrial/tds/helixultra.pdf

In owner's manual they have mentioned that...

If you use SAE 10W-30 or a higher viscosity engine oil in extremely low temperatures, the engine may become difficult to start, so SAE 5W-30 engine oil is recommended.

So does Mobil1 has SAE 5W-30 Grade available in india ??

Update from me. Id earlier written to ExxonMobil India thru their website asking them abt the places of availability of Mobil 1 in BLR. They surprised me by their Bangalore office calling me and being very proactive in offering to deliver the oil to my house. But the caveat is they're quoting Rs. 3700 for 4 liters (Swift required some 3.6 lts) and a ridiculous 2% discount on that.

I was :

1. Pleasantly surprised that they actually called and offered their services including speaking to RNS

2. Not happy that they're quoting Rs 925/liter, being direct Exxon-Mobil - not any dealer/franchisee.

I'm now counting on Rudra's guidance in sourcing my Mobil1 here.

Vid, you also get 0W40 Mobil1 Synthetic. But I guess 5W50 is the right grade to opt for.
