The price of the Stebel Nautilus has gone up as mentioned earlier.Yesterday's price in GP Road was Rs.850-the guy(Victory Automobiles) said I can have it for Rs.775..
Type R has flooded the market with imitations of every possible accessory-including the Stebel Nautilus. It's priced at Rs.475-but will it work as good as the Nautilus, you be the judge.

my electrician suggested me not to put the relay that had come with STEBEL.
instead i put a Indian make relay costing 65rs.
he said that he has got lots of experience in fitting horns. the relays that come with horn dont work for long time.
i confirmed this with the horn repair shop side by.
my nautilus is happily blowing since more than a year with same loudness.
and people who are wondering how many times a day i use, i use it as a daily horn.

Absolutely true. The fakes are avaiable a dime a dozen. Not just Type-R, but the fakes are also offered in the original packing. Worst is, it's damn difficult to tell the genuine one between the fakes.

Hope the one being sold for Rs 775 is genuine too. I suspect not!

Daily horn? Spare the commuters

In my experience with the Stebel, I've known/heard/seen the horn going bad, but never ever heard of a fault in the relay.

The horn in question is Nautilius.

Abhinav, you meant to say that you've not installed a relay with the Stebel Nautilus? It's a MUST!

I have a Stebel Magnum electromagnetic horn which is fitted with the included black square relay. I am not very happy with the sound as it sounds too 'sweet' and not as loud as I though it would.

Will it be louder if I swap the Stebel relay with an Indian one? Is the Stebel relay not working as well as it should? Why do most Indian car electricians recommend the Bosch/PMP ones?

No, i havent installed it. Actually i dont get why a relay is needed if we have seperate switch and seperate wiring from the battery with a fuse installed.
A relay can't amplify the battery's power. Hope you guys get what i mean.
On the other hand i agree relay is a must if you are installing the toggle switch between the OEM horn and the Nautilius where oem wiring comes into play. But if we have a seperate circuit (fuse protected) then what is the need of seperate relay?? Gurus please enlighten.

"Because a relay is able to control an output circuit of higher power than the input circuit, it can be considered to be, in a broad sense, a form of an electrical amplifier".

Source: Relay - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abhinav, a relay is necessary to protect the circuitry of the product, not only as for amplification (read neutralization) but in simpler terms, to regulate the flow of power/current to the horn, which in any case, can also be to protect high current passed to the horns (which can cause damage).

Hope this helps!

The relay is used since the switch in the steering or your separate switch will not have the power handling capacity for the horns. (in amperes)

ooh no!! just the other day i said that my stebel nautilus is still going strong even after a year and half and goshhhhhhh , it went down today while returning from matheran.
well it is still not completely dead, the 139 decibel horn has suddenly come down to about 60 decibels. its still blowing but not to its potential.

can someone help here? what might have happened? is it the horn that has gone kaput or the relay or something else.
can i get it repaired? i cannot part with my horn, i love it a lot.
