re: Power Horns!

Since your car comes with factory fitted twin horns, I am sure there is already a relay. So, nothing to worry. Enjoy the power of Red.

The Red Grills on my Vista was replaced my Stebel TM80 Magnum. Now she sounds Skoda-ish. The sound is low than RedGrill, but nevertheless, is effective.

The horns were a tight fit (had to remove the front bumper fully to fix them) and I do not think Vista will take thicker horn like Roots Vibrasonic / Megasonic.

Thanks for the clarification. Even the swift's bumper had to be removed completely to fix the horns, though they fit easily in place of the stock horns. My only worry is during the rainy season, since the horns are placed quite low in the front bumpers, would the water affect these horns? what's your experience?

re: Power Horns!

Guys I had replaced the OEM horns in the NHC 6-7 months back with Roots costing around 350-400.Dont remember the model no but it is black in colour with a silver border.
Now after 4 months they started to sound wierd and 1 horn conked off on its own.It was replaced by the company under warranty.
Now after 2 months again these horns have started sounding like a dead duck.Upon showing it to Our accessory guy he was like we have to send it to the company again.I'm in a dont know now what to do?What would have caused this problem? These horns sounded like the Innova one.

Which is the OEM Innova Horn?

re: Power Horns!

@NFS2024: From my personal experience, Redgrills are fairly ok with water - A pair of them are serving me on my bike for more than 2 years, and they have seen their fair share of monsoon and water splashes. Touch wood, I have not had any problems with them.

The horns you described above are similar to the Hellas. Change over to Hella round black with silver out line (even I do not know the model number) Have them on my Swift since 2 years, no problem yet. They sound sharp & effective. Sounds somewhat like the Innova OE horn

Cheers

re: Power Horns!

@cityvic: I think you have got the Roots 90, or similar model.

Try to tune the horn - it is an easy DIY job.

Remove the power supply from the working horn, and turn the adjusting screw/nut on the non-working horn in very small increments (roughly 1/16 or so) and then try the horn for the sound.

re: Power Horns!

I used both skoda and red grill from Hella and must say both not good, while skoda tone goes off at times the red grill aint good as it was.

I think i will stay away from Hella as their quality seems to have dropped drastically!

You are welcome. As for the Lancer, I still see it around, the guy is looking after it well, but each time I see it I want it back, just for the way it looks

I am surprised to hear that. Are you sure you were sold "original" hellas ?? There is a huge market of fakes, especially Hellas (lights & horns). Try Minda - they are decent quality AND cheaper than Hella. I got the black trumpet horn for the Pajero & it sounds good. Costed some INR 500

Cheers

STEBEL S.p.A. - horns

Check the site, you can actually test each horn as to what it sounds like.
I am looking for pressure horns for my i20! How loud is the nautilus?

Actually, I want to use the OEM horn while driving to not cause panic on the road. But I need to hook up the nautilus(maybe 2 of em) to a remote trigger alarm system, so that I can trigger both of them firing simultaneously if anyone is leaning on my car!!

So its available in India?

People in front do jump out of their skin if in front. I don't press the button for more than 2 or 3 seconds unless a moron is trying hard to prove he is the best moron on road. So it is quite loud.

Talking of availability - Yes it is very much available in India. The combination - you need to work it out with your electrician. Just make sure there is no much tampering with the wiring. I got mine fixed at the H.A.S.S as the guy was kinda close to me. I have a switch beneath the cover on the left side, under the cover. I have my Hella Red grille's as my other horn.

re: Power Horns!

^Nautilus is just what I was looking for then!!

Usually I never honk!! Since I've bought my car(2009 Dec) I may have honked like 5-10 times!!!

I always use the other person's guilt to get me out of honking situations! (but now a days ppl don't even feel guilty for blocking you or acting like morons!!)

Anyways, any online vendors? I wasn't able to find it here! :(

re: Power Horns!

Sorry bro, not that I am aware of. I am surprised that a place like Delhi, you can't find Nautilus? You sure to have checked in the right places? It wasn't hard at all for me to get it in Bangalore.

Check out Driven in East Of Kailash. They have them. One word of caution though; you'll be lucky if they last you a year. I'm on my third set of Nautilus in as many years. Still, nothing else sounds like that!!! And yes, it's LOUD; VERY LOUD !!!!

cheers

Even I have the Hella red grills in my swift. It has been more than 1.5 years since I fitted them. So far no issues at all. They are located next to the original horns and the bumper was not removed to install them. It was fitted with a relay also. A few times, the wiring clip came off from one of the horns. I have now put the clip in place firmly. After that everything has been fine so far.
