I use the electromagnetic horn (not the disc type). And the cop said that he'll give me a "pauti" and told me to fight in court if I am right.

He said:
- I know for sure this is a pressure horn, so I can make the pauti and you can fight in court.
- the fine is Rs 500, and if I am wrong I would never challenge you in court because if I lose the case I lose my job.
- Pressure horns are not allowed.
- (I explained to him that this is from Skoda car) and he told me that its allowed in cars and not on motorcycles.

Will take a pic of the horn and attach it later....

I have same on my bike and I have always managed to convince the cops that all cars use them so its ok to have them on bike.Though I generally prefer not to use them frequently within city limits.

@ Gordon- These are the Klaxxon (FIAMM) TR99 electromagnetic type horns, I have them in my car. These are not exactly air horns( they don't have motors) but they use a similar technology. I think Chevy optra have these horns as a standard fitment. Should they be fitted in the car with relays only?
p.s: - Sorry about my earlier post- these horns are not disc type , but trumpet type horns.

What's the internal difference between Electromagnetic Disk Horns & Electromagnetic Horns ?

Are both of them electrical horns ?

They are both electrical horns.

Electromagnetic disc horns are your average round horns which make quite a bit of a racket. They work by vibrating two discs against each other.

I'm not sure about how the second type works. I think they work somewhat like a pump operated by a electromagnetic coil. Open up an aquarium air pump to see what I mean.

So I had a roots windtone super horn on my Lancer which lasted 4 years. Off late it was sounding a bit gruff so I changed it to Bosch Symphony horns.

The old roots horn was 12V 4.0A and the new Bosch is also 12V 4.0A. The bosch keeps blowing the horn fuse but the roots did not have any such problem.

The Lancer SFXi came with a factory windtone horn i.e. pair. AFAIK there is no relay in the horn path.

Any ideas why the horn may be blowing the fuse when the other horn of same spec wasn't?

I have used both FIAM and Roots on my Ikon and now i thought i should try out HELLA TwinTone for my OHC. Sounds good, loud "pawwwww" sound like OE Skoda Octi and Chevy Optra use, but louder. Lets see how they perform over time. Got them for Rs740.
Out of Roots and FIAM i liked FIAM for its performance both in terms of loudness and also performnce in rains when water used to enter it but it survived, even when i had to got through deep waters, but Roots failed.

Mostly all of them are but its always better to install a relay for better performance. Try Hella instead, somehow not happy with Roots, Hella or FIAM loud, effective, reliable and durable, atleast i can vouch for FIAM have to test Hella for now.

Indeed the nautilus is a loud one. I sold one to a friend of mine. he was looking for a secondary horn but now he says this is the one he uses almost everytime. He has it on his royal enfield inside the side compartment (other side of tool box). This reduces the loudness a bit and lastly cops dont c it

loudness is subjective. some people like it some dont..
