dont worry the fitter will attach the switch somewhere, or else he may drill a small hole if u permit.

I dont know but during my search I went into Roots website where it clearly mentions Skoda India as one of its OEM customers. Since the sound is similar I thought it is the same (I think I got a second confirmation from a Maruti dealer as well, dont know whom!!)

Anyway, my purpose is getting solved quite well with those horns specially helpful in highways.

Hmm, but why is the Megasonic cheaper than the Vibrasonic?

How about a review of both by someone? (I presume that the Vibramax is a lower version of these 2).

Hella Red Grill

Hi Guys,

I installed a Hella Red Grill yesterday. The total cost was Rs. 1350. The installer removed the stock horns, which were of Fiamm, and installed Hella in its place. He insisted that there are relays installed by the company for the Fiamms, so a new relay was not required. Do I need a new relay?

Please advice.

On Power Horns, I have a simple question.

I want to install it in my Swift. What I am planning is to get it toggled on/off with the switch for my reversing horn. Is it possible?

What I mean to say is that presently I have a reversing horn in my swift with a switch. I am plannning to install the power horns (I dont know if I need a seperate relay for it ) which will function with the same switch of the reversing horn. When reversing horn is switched on, power horn is off, and when the reversing horn is switched off, power horn is on. Is it possible ?

Can anyone shed light on this please ?

Unless you dont want to use your power horns only and only when reversing, I dont see why you would do this.

During Reversing, I shall use my Stock Horns which don't scare the hell out of people during reversing, wherein the vehicle speed is slow. Effectively, I want to keep my stock horns, power horns and reversing horns and use their full functionality

Just check in your manual the ratings for the OE relay ( it might be written on the rlay casing under the bonnet) and correlate with the horns rating as in current consumed if they match then its ok if its not then change the relay.

Thanks Sid. My stock Fiamm horns were also 12V and about the same size as the new Red grill. Both are dual horns. So I guess it should be fine. I will also check the rating on the relay.

Mithun bhai... got Roots fitted this Sunday from Driven already. Sound is pleasant and effective. A relay and switch for switching between OEM and roots was also fitted.

Overall....I'm loving it !!

I've used a steibel nautilus on my Indica for more than 3 years with the relay it comes with and new wiring. It worked like a charm. It had survived the Mumbai rains of July 2005! Unfortunately it died out a year back. When I went for a replacement, I saw a another steibel with dual pipe horn for about 1200Rs. though was apprehensive to use it in the city. So, installed minda horns. Man, i really miss the steibel.
