Amit_mechengg & Rider60,

Interested in the Nautilus myself. Could you both kindly post a picture of how and where the actual horn has been fitted?

Thanks!

well i have this in my swift and 2 pairs of ROOTS wind tones!

i am happier with the two pairs of roots wind tones, actually. i suggest you do the same they are more rugged, and stay working for a longer time than this, and they cost the same or lesser.

1 pair roots wind tone is 500,
a relay branded is 185,
in case you need a condenser then 100 per pair of horn each.

so in calculation its only 200 more and stays with you for a longer time and does much better damage to the auto rikshaws! well after all these suggestions its still your personal preference, listen to them both and then choose!

EDIT: prices mentioned in this post are approx, depends on what the deal the shpokeeper offers it can be with warranty a genuine product or a grey product.

but only one advice do get a branded relay from roots or PMP or hella, dont use the plastic box ones they are best left for cars abroad, i did get one free with my stebel nautilus but was told it does not suit so i happen to buy one " roots "!

definately go for nautilus, it is a single horn with the motor and attached 2 low and high sounding pipes to them, u can see the pic on page 3/2 i dont remember.
i have fitted it near above the ac compressor near the fan. u have to make sure the nose is faced downwards. u can find a suitable place under ur hood.
i have benefited a lot from the horn in the city as well as highways. especially the autowalas and idiot bikers who keep on craping in between right in front of my hood. i beat the guts out of their bottoms. it sounds loud crisp and clear.

now the pictures above should give you the idea about the horns, they do have all the models you mentioned listen to few and decide based on the sound you would prefer for your car.

itwasme, i already posted i dint like the stebel nautilus much compared to the wind tones just check the post above again. its purely a choice of personal preference of sound one likes.fitting part would depend on the car, further away from the cabin the better, but things like water and space where its fitted needs consideration, and should be pointed away from the cabin.

just have a feel of the local traffic police in your city. in pune the power horns matter to none. in the beginning i too was reluctant using it in the city. then later i discovered that the traffic police dont have the knowledge about horns and they dont bother to bug me on horn issue. also most of the trucks have power horns. even the private company buses have power horns. they run in the city with same set of horns.

Or another option would be to wire the OE horn and the Nautilus separately. But would that void the warranty ?

In Bangalore go to Car Automobiles at JC Road for the horns. They have a good range of horns there by Stebel, Bosch, Hella and our very own Roots. And they charge less than the car accessory shops in Bangalore. Two years back i paid 850 bucks for the Nautilus. It's reliable and still working in the car it's fitted to.

If you're interested in wind tone horns check out the Stebel models too, they're pretty nice and has a pleasant but loud & strong sound. Bosch range of electric horns are pretty powerful but will be more expensive than Roots. The advantage with Roots is that most of them can be repaired reliably and parts are available.

Yes. To make ourselves heard and in the process to save others lives.

And everyone would want to make themselves heard above everybody else's noise and this will go on for ever and ever.

Till our traffic gets disciplined and every road user including the pedestrian get educated about the way in which to use the roads efficiently and properly we will need to shout (honk) ourselves loud to make ourselves heard among the rest and save our fellow road users from damages.

no it doesnt void the warranty. i have the OE horn plus the nautilus. i have a toggle switch in the cabin. a good electrician can easily do it. dont forget to put a good relay. dont fit the ones that comes with the nautilus box.

ok tell us the way of breaking through the traffic filled with idiot rickshaw drivers who dont have discipline and by virtue of their best power steering (better than mercedes and ferraris) make your life miserable after a tiring day in office.
i have a way of going straight through the traffic without anyone trying to brake me unwantedly. thanks to nautilus. just blow once and u will see how much respect u get on the road. by fear or irritation , it doesnt matter to me.

nautilus are much better than the hellas. hear it yourself. i had original hellas first.
