Hi Everyone,

Also, I previously had Roots horn installed and my abs warning light had lit up after a few weeks of installing that horn, and Hyundai said the clock spring went kaput and the scan error showed some electrical issues. I have replaced my clock spring and have no abs warning light at the moment, my question is will the clock spring/abs warning light go bad again since I have installed the new blaupunkt horn? I do have a relay installed this time.

Thanks

2013 i20 here - I had the same ABS-light-coming-on-due-to-the-clock-spring-going-kaput issue. I haven't replaced the factory horn yet. It's likely that those 2 were independent events that just coincided.

Thank you for your response. So far so good, have not seen the ABS light lit up yet. Also has anyone replaced their starter motor for the i20?

Would installing aftermarket dual tone horns in my Virtus void my warranty? I saw that VW has OEM connecters so the installer would have to splice the wire before the connector to make the horns work. Hella Chrome Trumpets seem to be double the quality for half the price but not worth losing my warranty for.

Friends, I have bought Hella Trumpet Pearl Black which is mentioned 6Amp max current. I am not sure whether the Amps mentioned is for single or for the pair of horns. My Honda City 5th Gen has fuse capacity of 10A as per owner's manual.

Does this require a separate horn wiring relay or I can replace stock horn with this hella horns using same OEM wiring?

I highly recommend getting the OEM VW horns that used to come with the Polo/Vento. The part numbers are 6RF951221B and 6RF951223B. You may acquire them from Boodmo; the connections are also the same, thus the guarantee will not be revoked. However, the cost would be around Rs. 4,000.

Hi All,

I recently upgraded my Amaze's horn to Roots Windtone horn, but I’ve noticed some strange electrical issues since then.

Listing out some of the symptoms:

- The new horn sounds less powerful (wierd sound), when the car is off, and when brakes are applied. It also sounds inconsistent while accelerating.
- When I brake and honk simultaneously, the brake lights become noticeably less bright.
- The battery is brand new, so I don’t think it’s the issue.

I don't know how the horns are connected to the circuit. It seems like the horns are drawing more power than the circuit can handle. I'm afraid this would cause further issues.

Any guidance on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Install a branded horn relay with horn wiring kit, preferably Hella, Roots, Super or Uno Minda brand wiring kit. The stock horn wire gauge may not be compatible with Roots Windtone horn, so wiring kit is essential.

I got adapters for horns, made a harness and installed Bosch Europa horns on my Jetta. It's very much possible to do it without cutting any wires

Yeah I ended up getting the OEM horns but from Skoda. Got them for 1500 and installed them myself.

Hey, did they ask for an existing Skoda owner's details to give you the horn?
I'm looking to buy a trumpet horn/dual horn from Skoda, since VW asks for almost double the amount of Skoda.

I'd read on the forum that they do not hand over OEM supplies directly, unless you have some Skoda owner's details.
And was the DIY fit straightforward, or involves some wire cutting, etc. ?
