Get a good expensive-r pair of ballasts as well with the new bulbs. They're still working, but just about for me.

My Sx4, headlamps & fog lamps are good for nothing, seems Maruti has taken a big cost measure.

For headlight, I've installed Philips Extreme vision, 55/60w which provides marginal difference, but not sure what is the solution for Fog light. Any recommendation without any wire cutting are most welcome!

Hello Friends !

I want to get HIDs in my Linea. However, do not want to put in a projector as that would involve opening the headlight and am very skeptical about that and do not trust unauthorized mechanics in Delhi.
Can any of the lighting gurus, please tell me if this is a good idea. Also where can I buy a pair of original Philips HIDs and get them fixed on my car. Am looking for a place in or near Noida.

IIRC the fog lights in the SX4 are H8 35W?

Upgrade it to 55W H11 type. It is a plug and play with no need for relay.

Philips H11 55W

Thanks Anurag,

How useful are these H11? I switched to Philips Extreme vision for head light, but honestly there was just slight improvement in the visibility when compared to the OEM bulb. Nothing drastic improvement in vision. Infact, the fog lights in my k10, I find them more useful than Sx4.

Are these with the White light or Yellowish white?

I have ordered these already for my Swift.

I expect the light to be near white but not white as it is 3400K.

Its been 2 months since I have installed H11 (55w) for fog lamps in my Ertiga that earlier had H8 (35w).

The installation was plug and play like Anurag mentions but you might have to cut the outer plastic for one of the notches to accommodate and twist the bulb to fit in place. The right hand side one was easy while the left one required this.

This above picture will make you understand where one might face issues. One option is to use a dremel and reduce that extra width too.

On the differences post installation -

Well, only marginal and I tested them by driving only with the fog lights on in a dark stretch and could notice around 20% better lighting but that's all.

This thread has detailed steps for the installation done in an Accord.

Im not sure if this is covered but in factory fitted projectors that come with halogen bulbs, can HIDs along with ballasts be directly swapped or are the lenses incompatible ?

@Mortis; they work, and given the small size of the Projectors are not a problem. The bulbs have to be the replacement of the bulbs used and not the DS series!

Guys, I need to get flexible DRLs installed inside the Manza headlights. Any recommendations for a competent mechanic in Gurgaon? Can't seem to find someone relevant in the directory.

I've already sourced the DRLs from eBay.

Hi Tanmay, try speaking to The Retro Rides. They are competent, albeit quite pricey.

Is anyone using LED driving headlamps as aux lamps ? Which one & how is the performance ?

Dear members i request you to kindly shed some "light"on the following query:

We have a secret santa thing going on in office and the person who's secret santa I am drives a Rapid DSG Black Edition. He has been going on for a while about how he wants HID's in his car and I would really like to gift him the same. The only problem being that I don't know which bulb type will go into the stock projector housing on a Rapid Black Edition. Unlike the normal rapid, which has projectors for the low beam and reflectors for the high beam, the black edition only has one projector which is used for both low and high beam and does not have a separate reflector for the high beam. Also since it is a "secret" santa thing, I can't make it obvious to him by asking about this.

Hence I request you all to kindly provide your input.

Best,
Enigmatic

I put in HIDs into my CRV which come with projectors and halogens. Works brilliantly.

A small update. So my low beam HID was high. Got them adjust at Swadi Automobiles in Bombay. They have a Bosch digital adjusting machine. Couldn't do it exactly to specifications but it's pretty close. Here are some snaps.
