Bit of a dumb question but better to ask :

Im planning to upgrade my headlights to 100/90 with a Philips kit since Ive started doing highway drives more regularly. What I want to know is with this upgraded relay and wiring kit installed can I still use regular 55/60W bulbs in it ? I prefer swapping out bulbs and using the 55/60W bulbs in the city and the 100/90W on the highway.

There isnt an issue if I do this right ? The upgraded harness doesnt output higher voltage or current which would blow the weaker bulbs ?

No need to swap them, just use them on low and it would be less painful for fellow road users than even 55/60 on high.

I am plan --------snip------n me.

Just change whichever ones you want to 90/100, or all four, if you want. H1 and h7, I believe, for high and low, respectively. Buy relays too.
Personally, I used 100 on high, but only for highways, and against cabbies.

Dry Ice : Thanks for the advice but Im still curious to know if it would work

No problem in using lower rated bulbs in a harness meant for a higher wattage. But why would you want to keep swapping the bulbs? That will adversely affect the life of the boot that seals the bulb holder with the HL dome

Thanks. Im not going to be doing it that often, just when Im in the city for longer stretches.

Im assuming using the higher wattage bulbs would put a strain on the battery/alternator ? My car is a Chevy Beat

Most modern cars have alternators which can happily cope with the increased load.

Hi, is there any one in Pune who does conversions of Halogens to Xenons.
I have a BMW X1 she does not have Corona Rings/Projectors/Xenons. The BMW service center does not do it for various reasons.
Any body reliable in Pune. Thanks

The stock 'halonix' bulbs on my 2009 VDi needs to be replaced. The low beam is pathetic to say the least. What would be better between philips 'xtreme vision' and osram 'night breaker' unlimited?

Go ahead with Philips XV as I have found them to be better on light spread and focus pattern when compared to Osram NB.

The issue I am facing is the lack of stock of Philips XV so I am getting an upgrade done to Philips Rally 100/90 (With the essential kit).

Try Poona Motors Camp

Does anyone know a reliable vendor from whom I can buy following kit and who can come to Mahindra Service station & install HID there in front of them?

I don't want to buy online. I want to buy from someone who installs it with expertese (though it's just plug n play, I'm still concerned about lil' lil' things like cutting back rubber etc etc)

THe kit I'm looking for is:

H7 bulbs 55W 4300K
Ballast 55W
Wiring kit

What is the fair price for philips XV? Mandovi JP Nagar is asking for 600 a piece for April 2014 manufactured stock.

I am planning to upgrade my Fiesta's stock bulbs to 90/100. I have visited couple of accessory shops and returned confused. Both of them said, you can not update Fiesta's bulbs to 90/100 as it has 2 bulbs on either side and one of them is only high beam so there is no way we could upgrade it. I have seen many Fiestas with 90/100. Is there anything that needs to done extra to upgrade the bulbs? Gurus please enlighten me.

If you are really concious about lights then go for 55w Philips xv for lows this wont require relay and put philips rally 100 for high only and put philips relay. What setup does fiesta run h1 h7 or all four h7. I've been running 100/90 with philips relay for 2.5 yrs on scorp and no issues at all.

I want to know the same thing. How is the 100/90 upgrade done to headlamps with H1 and H7 bulbs.
- Is it that only one (high or low) beam is upgraded
- OR are there special wiring harnesses that can handle both
- OR do we need to uses two sets of wiring harness

I had posted this query before but did not get any answers
