Headlight wiring ..

In my case none of the OEM wires were cut in doing the headlight upgrade . I did ask the Hyundai A.S.S. guys about the upgrade and they checked it out and said its ok as long as they dont interfere or cut the OEM wiring in the car.

Car Palace is bang opposite to Pattom Kalpana / reliance Web world at Kesavadasapuram. Nice place freiendly guys , but do remember to bargain for a better deal ... and the headlamp upgrade took about 30 minutes

Hi Chip,

Excellent lights for the fogs. But im guessing they are not fitted in a projector setup and could be blinding oncoming traffic.

Anyway, for my information, what is the specification of these lamps i.e. brand, power and ofcourse cost?

What are you using for the headlamps?

Thanks hellstar for the info.. I'm planning to go for 100/90 philips rally bulbs. Any idea what will be the approximate cost of a pair of 100/90 bulbs? How much did the relay and wiring cost for you?.

I have a swift. Called up my dealer (Sagar), and enquiried abt the head light upgrade options. Acc to him, any upgradation will lead to the warranty being void.

He didnt have a clue about Osram Silverstar (kept parroting abt the warranty). Tho I am hoping that since the wattage is same, it shouldnt matter.

Maybe to be more safe, I will buy the bulbs from outside and ask them to replace the same.

if you replace with 60/55W that wont void warranty. With 100/90W with relay these guys can crib, but then they can crib about stereo too, and blame your ICE for the ECU faliure.

You can also try another dealer / A.S.S. Get the relays installed by them, replace the bulbs yourself.

True, in anycase, even if we dont do anything, and god forbid, something goes wrong with the car, they will make a 100 excuses to deny the warranty benefit.

Cheers

Hi Condor, I had called sagar at ask what options he had. I think what he was saying was he had no options (they did not stock relays/ 100w bulbs etc) as doing such a mod/ upgrade would void the warranty. He was ofthe opinion that the fog lamps wud help in giving extra light. As I have an Lxi, I do not have fog lamps (2500 bucks to install them from maruti)

What i interpret from this, is, even if your dealer/ A.S.S. upgrades it for you, the warranty will still get void.

For me, its a toss-up between waiting for 2 yrs (paid extra to get 4 yrs), or fitting the 60/55W or saying, to hell with the warranty (ref: my post above).

Cheers
Ajay

Go for something like Osram Silverstar 50%+. It will give you better light and no warranty issues too since they are 60/55W.
You can also try out Philips Power2night or Philips Xtreme power +

Hey TSK...!!!
which bulbs are the best for the non clear lens headlamps of old cars?

I got one set of Philips power rally 100/90....to check the intensity i got them fixed on both Baleno n Zen once....The results were quite different ...In Baleno it was very good, almost perfect...in Zen the intensity was lesser n i was still getting blinded at times by bikers but way better than Halonix 100/90 white ones i had earlier....
