Leadfoot: Why not the stock projector Fog lamps that came with Lancer SFX?

They will not blind the oncoming car but will give you clear road view

@ Technocrat & Leadfoot.

This is the pic of my Hella projectors!

I changed those bulbs with OSRAM cool blue thinking the light would be bluish white. It turned out to be yellowish with a blue tinge. It cost me Rs.260 a pair. I should have gone for the OSRAM super which is +30% and costs Rs.120 a pair.

It uses a projector setup which is easily adjustable. I think it will be expensive to buy.

Whatever you do don't buy the new lancer's fog lamps. They are of no use. Try getting the swift's lamps and retrofitting them into the bumper like razor4077's.

Hi,

Anybody tried using Philips Xtreme power +80% more light. If so how is the ouput and where can i source it in chennai apart from ebay.

Looks like Hella 500s rather than a projector. Please correct me if I am wrong.

kutlee has the extreme power on his OHC. However he had sourced them from the UK. Tried hard mnyself to source the same from Hyderabad, but to no avail. Do update us if you are able to lay your hands on these.

Hey Leadfoot, I have installed Hella Projectors in my Tavera. Don't go for yellow lights. Hella 550 will be more than sufficient for you. It has 60W bright white bulbs.

You will need a seperate relay and wiring. The total cost will not exceed Rs. 2500. I have fixed the projectors on my crash guard. So there was no need for drilling. If you want to do it from Pune, let me know.

@ Lord Lucan, It is indeed Hella 550, which is also called a projector, because of its DE projector lens optics!

I have fitted 130/110 with wiring kit & relay. last week while on highway both the high beams stopped working, i stopped & checked the fuse.the fuse box of high beam was hot & the fuse had melted inside the box.took the car to an auto electrical shop on the highway & removed the fusebox & tied a fuse to wires.

after about 100kms checked the fuse it was very hot & tape on the fuse had melted.

what could be the reason for this?

ad75, the relay and wiring kit are supposed to take the load off the main wiring and become the main conduit.
In your case it appears that the relay is shorted, as your main wiring is doing the job. I suggest you get the relay checked from a good electrician and put in 60/55W for the time being.
Please not that 2 60W bulbs will take 10A of current. 2 130W bulbs will take 22A of current. thats more than twice the amount. You will damage the fuse box by trying to put in bigger fuses. Refrain from doing so.

hi
i bought 4 nos. HB3 9005 NARVA 100w Headlamp for accord but all seems have same transverse directional locking system while companly default low beam halogen has different reverse locking system (HB4)

How can i use both 100w high beam HB3 halogen to HB4 low beam projector with new heavyduty relay and wiring kit?

how to alter locks on bulbs to use that in to low beam projector?

thanks

thanks tsk, will get the relay checked. could you reccomend a good brand for relay & the wiring kit? should i change the wiring kit?

Try to get roots relay. It costs 700rs(as opposed to 400rs for other brands), but the advantage is that you get
1. Cermic holders
2. 130/110W capability.
3. Entire wiring harness
You need a good electrician to wire it up in a way that the entire current load is taken off the OEM wiring, and routed externally via the relay.

Relays come with wiring diagrams painted on them, and any electrician worth his salt should be able to wire them fine.

Here is the one which I recently purchase from JC Rd, Banglaore
--
Roots Dual Headlamp relay : Product code : 953947. Rs.148/. + 12.5% tax
Roots Headlamp Wiring Harness : Product code: 953982 (130/90W). Rs.406/. + 12.5% tax

If you buy the entire harness and relay kit with ceramic holders it costs 700rs. For 130/110W normal holders can melt(I had the melt problem on one holder)

People,

I have a carb Zen 97 model. Driving in rain with stock lamps is a big pain :Frustrati.
So enquired about fixing fog to Zen with Maruti A.S.S guy.

He suggested that fogs in Zen are not recommended because if left ON by mistake would cause wiring to burn. Many such cases have been reported, according to him. Is it true?

Also, they suggested that changing stock 55/60 bulb to 90/100W would not cause melting or reflector burning problem in Zen as that headlight casing is made out of glass with some brass coating which isn't present in current cars like Waon -R,Estilo etc (they are made of plastic fiber).
According to him, only relay replacement without any wiring change would suffice to fix 90/100W inplace of 55/60W.

Please enlighten me on above facts
(with more than stock 50/65W brightness ) :)

Should i have ceramic holders inplace if changing 55/60 to 90/100 ?

Thank You
