Looking for a bluetooth car kit

Folks,

I am looking to buy a bluetooth car kit which will possibly integrate with my in car speakers. I have a Honda Civic LX, 2008 model, in the US. Would be glad if someone can give me a few pointers.

Many Thanks
Prasad

You will find a lot of these in your local Walmart Car Electronics rack for 50-60 bucks. Yes, this will integrate with your HU and hence your speakers.

Thanks folks.. I picked up the blackberry VM 605 which is a bluetooth receiver+mike+fm transmitter, which routes the call to my car stereo using FM. The sound is good enough, though not crystal clear, there is marginal, negligible disturbance. The bonus is that it can play music through bluetooth from my blackberry. so I can now get rid of my headphone jack.

Thx
Prasad

Do you want a full fledged BT car kit? One that integrates with the HU?

If not, try Jabra SP700 or Jabra Cruiser.

Cost:100$,
Installation procedure:
-Power up,
-scan for bluetooth devices on BB,
-enter passcode in user manual for VM 605,
-click the FM button on the left side and scan for an available channel-
-device speaks the right channel,
-tune your car radio to the FM channel, and you are done.
-It plays any possible music that can be played on your BB through the HU.
-You can make calls using blackberry voice commands that are preconfigured.

Did not take any pics but a google search gives quite a few of them

Thx
Prasad

Re: Looking for a bluetooth car kit

There are kits that you can clipon as your rear view miroor which has a 7inch screen + bluetooth for 5k. Some even have usb & sd card input but can cost you a bit more.

Re: Looking for a bluetooth car kit

Something like this? It was listed in Team BHP Classifieds around January 2011, and it says Mumbai dealer!

http://classifieds.team-bhp.com/buy-...Free-Kit.html/

I found it to be a simpler solution than any other methods/ways to achieve this, other than OEM bluetooth availability of course! And I think its easy installation / remove / carry (my assumption)

Re: Looking for a bluetooth car kit

Maruti has introduced an OEM bluetooth kit for the new Alto K10. It's almost half the size of a cell-phone, can be attached on the driver side A-pillar, and needs a (concealed) wire-connection to the battery. Guess this can be used in any car.

Re: Looking for a bluetooth car kit

Hi People,

I recently installed MGA blue tooth in my SX4. The voice clarity is good, but couple of issues i am facing. Every second day, i need to pair my phone again which is quite irritating at times.

Phone number is not displayed in the OEM system (standard music system in SX4 ZDi model)

Regards

Amit

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

Just got delivery of the Blaupunkt Drive Free 311 today. Bought it off the Mobile Store e commerce site.

Rs 4160/- including shipping and delivery at home.

Looks very stylish. Very iphone- like in appearance and hence a good ish match.
Is very light indeed and frankly seems plasticky.
Somehow being a Blaupunkt I thought it would be heavier to heft in the hand.

It synchronizes nicely with the iphone and I have loaded all the contacts into it via bluetooth transfer.
It has a small LED display which shows the name of the contact when someone calls.

Comes with a USB charger and socket which one can plug into the car 12V point or lighter socket.
Decent speaker sound. Works well even in the house. Quite clear and so on. I was worried about distortion but that seems like it isn't there.
Tomorrow I shall mount it on the sun visor and speak freely on the phone if I need to, from the car!

This solution may not be as great as the integrated bluetooth for the Yeti but I prefer this to having some ham handed mechanic with butter fingers messing about with my beautiful Yeti's internal fiddlybits...
