I will have to open the Grill for that.
I got a custom bracket made, and got it welded to the bar behind the bumper, and then routed the bracket from the lower grill.
Does this give you an idea?,if not i will post pics over weekend.

Re: The Hella Experience - 500 FF

Hey Guys!

I finally got the Hella 500FF fixed onto our Xylo. Putting below a few pics that I'd taken during the install. Hope they help anyone looking to do the same install in the future.

The 1st two images show all the wiring equipment that came with the Lights.

The 3rd image shows the place where we thought we could attach the clamp at the beginning. Then we realized that the wall wasn't strong enough to hold the clamp without shaking.

We got a hole made in the body (Last image) to fix the clamp, which would then come out of the grill. If you see the 6th image, it shows the flat plate which is used to join and hold both the clamps (suggested earlier by Condor; Thanks!)

Still haven't used the lights at night, very excited to try them out!

Cheers!

Thanks. All the welding work including clamps, brackets and all, at a total cost of 800 and charges paid to electrician - 400. I got The Hellas from my friend at a differential price, so no point quoting it here. Hope this helps.

Will post the pics of the lights in a few days when i leave town and get the car running on the highway.

Re: The Hella Experience - 500 FF

It is now available at 3590 (after accounting for 10% discount) on Snapdeal. I've ordered one for my Swift. I'll install it on next weekend in case it is delivered by then.

Re: The Hella Experience - 500 FF

Got 500FF installed on my Swift over the weekend.

Got custom brackets welded on the horizontal bars behind bumper. The welded brackets were very firm and secure with no apparent vibration. So, didn't go for cross-member bar to secure them further.

Some pics attached.

The lamps are secure with zero vibration or beam flicker. Happy with the install

Re: The Hella Experience - 500 FF

Is it so problematic to get the clamps designed in chrome? IMHO, bare iron clamps does not look good in cars. It spoils the look. This is big reason I have not installed the aux lights in my Safari. I do not want to fit bull bar for the lights. Bull bar seriously hamper the crumple zone.

I got one option of Indian made light bar that is upto on sale in T.bhp classifieds. But the seller has got chrome one out of stock and he had only black colour one.

If some experts here in forging of metals, please let us know, how much it is effort to have chrome clamps for installing lights?

Re: The Hella Experience - 500 FF

Hi
I went ahead and ordered the 700ff from snapdeal and got it delivered today. The box says it as comet 700ff while the mrp sticker shows it as rallye 700ff. It's made in India at haryana facility. Curious to know about the difference between comet and rallye variant. Will it make sense to return the shipment back.

My concern with this kind of setup is that if you are parking the car and accidentally 'touch' a high foot path, the lights would be the first thing to make contact with the concrete.

Is there a possibility of drilling holes into the grille (with the same diameter as the Hella lamps) and fitting them there instead such that they are an inch back from the bumper? With a honeycomb grille, it seems possible without affecting the structural integraty of the grille itself and mounts can be made by welding to the inside of the bonnet.

Re: The Hella Experience - 500 FF

A new bee question:
Can't we install these lamps on roof top with bar across roof rails. I have seen few lights bars, but not sure we can fit these.

Actually, I am looking for my duster. I don't want to fit on bumper/in front of radiator grill where it obstruct air flow.

Any ideas/suggestions.

Thanks.
