Hi all,

With the rains approaching I am sure we are all getting ready to keep our car's windshields nice and clean by chaning our wipers and stuff. We all know that no matter how clean we keep our windshields, it all goes for a toss once we start driving and especially on the highways which totally covers our windshields with muddy spray from the tires of other vehicles which would require us to constantly use the winsdhield washer function on our cars.

Now, I am sure we all use an additive for the same. So which according to you guys is the best additive for the windshield washer to help with best results of visibility during monsoons.

Mods : Didn't find any thread that discussed only 'Windshield Washer Fluids/Additives' and hence opened a new thread for the same. Kindly merge to an appropriate thread if required.

I bought a 3M comby pack from Reliance Auto Zone and I feel it's superior compared to Colin which I used earlier.

I use Waxpol windshield cleaner (WIND SHIELD CLEANER). Easily available, not expensive and pretty effective - can't ask for more.

Cheers,
Vikram

Pril/Colin works just fine. I've read that they add a diluted version of that in the windshield wash fluid spray.

I usually put a 1 Re sachet in the water bottle under the bonnet from where the water comes out on the windshield after which the wipers swing into action. A mechanic told me that any shampoo will do but the wipers clean of the grunge very nicely.
It usually is useful in the rainy season with careless bikers literally spraying the windshield in muck. Thats really irritating.

Plain water works well enough - so why mix anything with it !!

PS: A similar thread exists.

2 sachets of any shampoo in a full jar of water in the windshield reservoir does the job beautifully! also ensure that you clean the wiper blades once a day with a semi wet cloth.

I tried sonax concentrate bought at a shell fuel pump. It cleans really well but I find it a bit too soapy

Even I use the Sonax and it seems to work well when it is raining/slushy, else it feels too soapy for dry conditions of washing the windshield. I plan to shift to bottled water next and observe the performance.

the one they use in shell bunks looks good, any idea which brand or probably i need to check with them during my next fill ?
otherwise, water(the kaveri in bangalore) other than borewell is sufficient enough

Distilled water + Shampoo(no conditioner) does it for me. Don't use normal water as salt & algae deposits can clog the tube.

Whenever i add shampoo to the windshield fluid reservoir,it starts leaking.
when i add normal water,it stops leaking:Frustrati
i use simple water, have stopped using shampoo.

Is there any Anti-fog/mist spray which can prevent windshield from fogging??

Windshield washer - Am currently using ArmourAll additive for the water.

Antifog - Using this.Best Windshield Washer Fluid?-abro_clearview_antifog.jpg

For my swift, I use normal water. While washing I use the same car shampoo to clean the windshield. In my dad's fiesta, I had used a tinge of car shampoo mixed with water in the windshield container.
Any problems with this.?
