No thanks, I'll stick with the one I've got. Have got satisfactory results so far.
Fair enough. Serves me right for trying to find the product number in the middle of a meeting

Here's the warm weather fluid that needs a dilution of 1:100 - G052 184 A1 (or M1). The one you've used is 164 that is more pertinent for cold conditions. Unless of course you're expecting a particular cold winter in Gujarat this year!

I am currently using the washer solution given by MASS. No complaints though, just want to try something different.

Came across this Proklear. Want to know before I purchase it.
I bought this about a month back. Before this, I didn't use any concentrate - just plain water. With this concentrate, I see a huge difference. There are no streaks left on the glass, and it cleans the windshield very well. I have no complaints whatsoever.

And I have used their RAW as well. Perfectly VFM product! I see they have launched a car shampoo as well. Waiting for my current shampoo to finish before I try that.

Thanks but I wouldn't really bother as the service center pours this fluid in the cars here. And like I said before, the diluted fluid works well in cleaning the windshield.

Re: Best Windshield Washer Fluid?

Has anyone tried this?

Good/bad?

EDIT: Sorry, should have searched first. Found lots of positive feedback on this thread itself.

Cheers,
Vikram

Re: Best Windshield Washer Fluid?

I went through the thread but everyone is recommending only additives to regular water.
Water rusts certain parts in the Windshield washer assembly. The windshield washer pump on my Merc S500 (W221) recently went kaput and it in all likelihood is because regular tap water was used in the assembly for years.

If you mix additives to regular tap water, aren't you still running the same risk?
Aren't those proper windshield washer fluids available in Mumbai by the litre like in Europe for example. Those don't have to be diluted, they come in large 5 ltr or 20 ltr containers and are apparently really good for your washer system.

Please let me know if my fears are even warranted. Thanks!

Failure due to deposition and rust are two different cases IMHO. Most parts which will carry water over extended periods of time, would be made of brass, as in household taps (nickel plated), ABS/plastic (cheaper ones) or Aluminum, to prevent rust formation at least.

Car light duty pumps as in windshield waters, would be mostly plastic/ABS with the electrical section isolated with a watertight seal. Deposition is another story altogether, and quite common.

Some people advise against soap, as it degrades the rubber pipes...confusing area actually. Plain water seems to be the best bet! Additives may be detergents or even antifreeze: checking MSDS may reveal the contents.

Deposition may have actually been the cause, now that you mentioned it. The reservoir tank is literally coated with a white residue, which I'm guessing comes from all the minerals in the water over the years. How would you recommend I get rid of that? Also, is distilled water a solution?

Re: Best Windshield Washer Fluid?

I use RO water 2 liters or so every 6 weeks, is all that is required. I add a sachet of the Maruti windshield fluid. That's it.

Distilled water might not be required.

Regarding the scales in the reservoir, it would have reduced the container volume by a few percent. If it is not flaking off, keep it as it is, I would say. If it is flaking off, and the pieces are big enough to obstruct the piping, you might need a different line of thought.

In my Ritz, I wasn't getting sufficient pressure when the stalk is pulled, rain clogging due to scale formation. What I did was filled 1-1.5% acid into the container and post 10 minutes contact time , I used the washer and things did some well.

Gave the windshield, channels, pipes, container a through rinse with RO water and refilled it with the solution.

Re: Best Windshield Washer Fluid?

In most western countries you get those proper WindShield washer fluids in 5 litre packs that don't require dilution. What are your thoughts on those. Do we have any in India?
I did look quite a bit but couldn't find any. I wonder why.

Hi dumdum, I have only seen ready to use windshield washer fluids in E commerce websites. Those are mostly imported. I also think waxpol sales such fluid now a days. But it is hard to find all waxpol products in local shops. So again we buy from those online shops.

Re: Best Windshield Washer Fluid?

Just adding my 2 cents..

Just try to collect the water coming out from home or office AC. Put a pipe on the outlet and collect the same in a bottle.

Try to use this as I feel this should be as good as clean and mineral free water.

I have started using the same since last month and would be able to comment more after some months.

Some VW/Skoda service centers do whereas some don't. Best to ask them.

Re: Best Windshield Washer Fluid?

I always use RO water with some washer fluid. The RO water never leave any water marks on the windscreen. I have used multi product, from Maruti genuine washer fluid to ABRO/Sonax. All are working fine with Ro water.

Also I apply wax on the windscreen . I do it 3/4 times a year. This has a very good impact in rainy season and night visibility.
