But arent the precut films usually cut to the edges and not tucked around? As far as the content I have seen on Youtube, precut films are usually not tucked around the edges.
Of course, the PPF industry as a whole is very labour and material intensive so it is only relative to the machine template that it is a lower cost model. I think a large chunk of the small outlet installers, usually owner managed, use the pre-cut films that don't go over the edge. This style still works better than having no protection.

Llumar and 3M themselves have come up with machines and softwares which help with the digital templates. There are a few PPF organisations such as Topaz Detailing and Dub Customs based in the UK or NVN Dubai/ London which use custom digital templates. You can look them up on YouTube as they have their own channels. They mostly cater to customers with really high end cars so it's feasible for them to use such techniques since they charge upwards of GBP 4k per job. I'm sure there are other outlets that offer similar services that I'm not aware of.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Does any installer in India use machine precut films? I think 3M and XPEL both do bulk installation only which requires cutting directly over the paint surface. PPF plotter machines probably haven't made their way to our country just as yet.

So it's really a hit or miss job in our country. Human error can most certainly not be ruled out even if the installer is a pro and manufacturer trained. It ultimately boils down to probability.

Would like to know if anybody is using plotters to cut the film.

Just my two cents.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

While searching online for PPF, I found few dealers on Indiamart selling rolls of PPF (Garware Xpel etc) of self healing kind. Prices ranged from about 15000-30000 per roll of 60meters(Width 1 meter). Any idea how much meters a car takes?
Me and One friend are planning to buy the roll and do it, with help of guys who do installtions of PPF/Film. I got a small chip already on my Seltos, Dont want to risk it further.

Its Fake , the original PPF from bands you mentioned is in tunes of 1-1.5 lakh for a roll. dont waste your money on fake stuff. contact the original importers / distributors of these brands in india and buy from them. you can get information on respective brands website.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Is PPF recommended for interior trims? I have piano black trims on both the dashboard and the center console, and am already OCD about the swirls they are steadily collecting.

The pros are obvious but are there any cons as such? Also, I can see that XPEL Ultimate is highly recommended. Is that the only real choice and where can i get it done in north Bangalore?

You don't need it for interiors as such. However if you have an OCD then look at ceramic coating for those panels.

Don't bother with XPEL for interiors. They are just way too expensive. If you do go for PPF, you will lose some of the gloss on the interior panel since they are very shiny and reflective.

If you're looking at PPF for exterior, XPEL is the best but they have only official channel which is Koramangala/Jakkasandra signal. Rest everyone stocks but will not be official buy.

Other brands to consider Stek, Hexis, Llumar etc.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

I have given my new Black colored Kia Seltos GTX plus for detailing and PPF to Kunal at Pittstop Detailing (erstwhile 3m) at Kirti Nagar, Delhi.

Looks promising and have asked for full body ppf. IIRC its Opti-Coat ppf . Will post pics tomorrow as it gets delivered.

Cheers!

PPF or Wrapping is not recommended for interiors. I wanted to wrap a few bits of my car's interior and I have been told it is not recommended.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Got the car home delivered. It has some bubbles under the ppf skin and I have been assured that it will go away in the sun in about a weeks time.

Good job. It looks ultra shiny. This is my first time with ppf and since its a black colored car. I hope it holds and retains the shine.

Not associated with the detailer in any way and it was my first time there.

Though the owner, Kunal was very helpful. However, a rear doorpad wasn't cleaned properly and I have been assured that they will send a guy to clean it up.

Hello CC,
Car looks absolutely fabulous!!

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you spend on it? And which brand was the PPF of?!
I'm planning to install PPF on my Seltos GTX+ too.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Hello Guys,

Anyone having any feedback or used a brand called DHC for PPF ?

My friend’s black Creta needs full PPF. Kolkata 3M quoted whooping 95K for the basic PPF (not even Venture-Shield). So, he is looking elsewhere & came across a dealer quoting 60K for the DHC full PPF (One year warranty with anti-yellow and self healing)

Appreciate your help.

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Hi Salil

I got full PPF wrapping done on my Verna in Feb this year. 3M is notoriously high for PPF, and surely does not deliver value for money either - so I went to a detailing studio near my home. The specs are as follows:

- Cost: Rs 30,000 for full wrapping

- Guarantee: 3 years with a maintenance package to replace damaged film caused by nicks, grazes etc

- Brand used: Avery Dennison

- Installation time: 1 and a half days for peaceful installation and removing the bubbles

It is supposed be self-healing. I was told that it turns off-white after some time, but that's an issue only with white painted cars.

Your friend can negotiate more and visit some other studios as well.

Wow, that's a fantastic rate. Was paint correction done before application of PPF?

Re: Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Hi BlackWasp

My car was in pretty good shape even after two years - have been very careful with it and try to keep her covered on days that I do not use it. So the need for paintwork wasn't there. What they did was the usual - cleaning, washing, 3-step paint restoration followed by PPF wrapping.

However, there was a tiny nick of about a mm long where the paint has chipped off (someone parked alongside banged open the door to hit mine, while in the parking lot) - this was tackled simply by installing the PPF first and then camouflaging it out using a permanent marker kind of thing on the film. It has held on so far.

Cheers!

Any idea on what a complete PPF for the Creta 2020 could cost? I'm guessing it'll be similar to the Seltos.
