I bought a can of Formula 1 from a shop I have trusted for over 30 years. I used it on my civic. After a week, the cover was blown off and it rained overnight. The rain water showed no signs of beading. I am wondering whether it was bad polish or the reportedly poosr bonding of wax with some paints. I have got a bottle of Collinite 845 and will try over the weekend.

Ditto! I tried Formula1 wax(I dont use it on my car!) on my dad's car for trial purposes after prepping the surface!

It lasted like a week or so!

Collinite will definitely outlast every wax we have here(locally available ones)! But surface prepping is essential to ensure proper bonding of wax to the paint surface!

Bought original Turtle wax directly from Xenos sales guy at cochin for Rs 240.00. It has the xenos emblems also. Every shop was stuffed with formula1 wax here in Trichur and most of the shop keeper have not even heard of Turtle wax.

Its seems to be original as it bears the distributor's logo. Price too is justified.

Try reliance auto mart.
Or
Xenos is the importer of TW in India. They helped me locate TW products here in Bangalore.

Re: Huge Fake Car Polish/Wax market in India

I went to buy turtle wax from a local car accessory shop and found this 3M liquid wax. As I have heard that it is easier to buff a liquid wax so I bought to give it a try on my bike. Sharing its picture with you all, please tell if it is a genuine one or a fake bottle. I bought it for 75 INR.

^^^ Seems genuine. Tough I don't have a the bottle now to compare it exactly.

Its a reasonably good product... except that it isn't too durable.

This is the same one I purchased for 75 last year. Now its lying idle in my shelf as the wax polish lasted only for a week on my car . The quality of the plastic container was very bad. If possible buy meguiars NXT 2.0 it lasts for many months if u top collinite 845 over NXT 2.0

That's why I have not applied it yet on my car. I will try it on my bike to see how long it lasts. How much long will the waxing last if I apply this 3M wax and then re-coat with turtle or formula one wax?

Re: Huge Fake Car Polish/Wax market in India

^^^Personally, I wouldn't mix them like that. Better to stick to one. Anyway, the 3M product does give a reasonably good shine. Just that you will have to reapply in a week or two. And quite an easy job, compared to other products... even Turtle Wax.

Btw, Formula 1 will also not last much longer. Turtle wax lasts a bit longer; esp. if you let it dry for longer before buffing. Collinite and all are supposed to last longest.

So why try to make a concoction with unknown effects? Just buy what you think is best for you, and be ready to adjust the waxing frequency accordingly.

I used 3M liquid wax today on my black colored WagonR and I am just amazed to see the result. The car is so shiny and glossy after waxing that it will give a tough competition to a brand new black WagonR.

I am surprised by the shine as even turtle/formula one wax doesn’t create that much gloss and shine and it was easier to buff also.

Let's see how long the gloss lasts as compared to turtle wax, even if it lasts lesser than turtle wax I will still use this 3M liquid wax from now because the after-results are so amazing.

Formula 1 Car Care Kit

I got the above deal from Futurebazaar (part of Future group). Did anyone buy something like this before? How genuine would be the product.

Any pointers? Deal closes in 10hrs.

Re: Huge Fake Car Polish/Wax market in India

I wouldn't recommend Formula1 at all!!!

Loads of products which are lightyears ahead of formula1 in performance and convenience are available now!!

Check out automall's ebay page! loads of reputed Mothers, Collinite(famous for their #845 insulator wax which is a really great wax) , Meguiars and Optimum products there!! - http://stores.ebay.in/Auto-Mall-India-Online

Forget formula1, accelerate into the future!!
