New Honda City bumper - Please help

Hi folks,
I had a bad day yesterday. I was returning back from Tirupati and while reversing the car, my father hit a lamp post. The impact was so bad that the bumper had a deep cut and seems like it has to be replaced. Unfortunately, I have opted for third party insurance and have learnt my lessons now. Can anyone suggest a place in Bangalore where I can find old bumpers? Also, Can you suggest a good paint shop where I can get it painted for a reasonable expense?

Hi,

there is something called 'plastic welding'(as mentioned to me by the mechanic),, it was done on my NHC front bumper when it met with an accident. See if you can find out about it.
it cost me 300rs.approx. here in Delhi for the welding.
I didn't know plastics could be welded. Anyway it was a cheaper option instead of changing the bumper.
the bumper was as good as new with rubbing and polishing to finish it up.
As you can see in the pics attached. Its the same bumper.

with regards,
JaXy

don't know about specialization but if i see the inside of my bumper i see a rod type thing which has been welded along the crack were it was hit. He said you put this wire type thing and weld the plastic from the inside.
From the outside you cannot make out if the bumper had a crack in the first place, it just sticks together.
Don;t know how he managed that though, my car was good as new.

JaXy

Hey Jaxy
Amazing work on your car. My car's bumper suffered an almost same fate by a bus. Being insured, the fender and bumper were changed. But anyways, from where did you get this done and how much you shelled out for repairing the fender.

Cost of Rear bumper of NHC

Hi guys,
A friends Honda city's (NHC) rear bumper was damaged while driving. The bumper before the incident was a little misalinged and it's side corner was jutting out. As my friend was driving, seems he passed too closely to a Padmini taxi and the bumper got caught in the taxi's bumper and tore.

The bumper now has a dent and tear like a paper.Question is how much will the new bumper cost.Or should like the post above , is it possible to fix the bumper like in the above post in Mumbai.

thanks.

My ANHC was rear ended in sept. it cost me approx 13-14K to get a new bumper fitted including cost of the bumper (+near by fittings), labour, taxes etc.

13-14 k for a bumper job.I hope it inlcuded the cost of the paint or the bumpers come with the paint on.

plastic welding is done by heating up the bumper torn edges and put some fiber and then made settle as one piece.
Basically the extra plastic/fiber is integrated and joins the two broken parts together.

Also the parts which have dents are heated firmly to reshape them.

ask your local dent repair shops they must be having access to those "plastic welder guys"

No Doubts Spending 10+K on bumper is an expensive affair.

Cold joints are also another option...

What they basically do is join the crack with a epoxy and re enforce the join with a piece of fibre glass from the inside of the bumper. The epoxy dries over a day or so and is later sanded down to megre with the bumper.

Later the bumper is painted...
