Loud exhausts is illegal.there is a law statiting that if a car makes more sound form its exhaust than the OE exhaust then its illegal.
dunno how these fools decide on this.

premier padmini cars, autorickshaws, trucks ,buses and even sports cars like ferrari, porsche have loud exhausts.but its ok with them.

i have heard that even changing ur tires is illegal.
putting 100/90 bulbs is also illegal.

how can all these be illegal when you are doin all this for safer driving.

exactly my point putting widder tires and brighter bulbs are all to increase safety.so why should they be illegal.some one should just change these rules and put some which make sense.but guys if a cop pulls you over for say a loud exhaust and asks you to pay a fine of 500 rupees or more what do you do ??

Guys,
aren't Turbos meant to improve the emission of vehicles or is that just for Diesels?

hahah dude that doesnt really work any more.atleast not in south bombay minimum pandus take is Rs 100.specially if he there are more than two of them or they say "challo police station"

hey have been wanting to ask , can they take your keys away and tell you to collect it from the chowki because they have blackemailed my friend a couple of times so can they really do that.(for a minor offence like signal or lane cutting or something or in this case modifying)

Hey,
I was on my way back home today when a paandu stopped me for my exhaust.I had no excuse as it has a loud sound. He asked me to open my hood, which i do.He tells me about my illegal mods and points out to the headers.I was kind of stunned. But then,i just remove a 500rs note and pass it on to him after which he shuts off and lets me go.I mean its soo nice we have cops like these in India. And needless to say,I absolutely love CORRUPTION! lol.

hey x machine you should have never offered 500 rupees in the first attempt you should say to the pandu that you dont have money so that he can settle for a 50 or a 100 rupee note. 500 is way too much. hey rev if the pandu wants to take you to the police station then give some 50 or 100 more because once he takes u in the policestation and makes a recipt then you will have to pay a huge amount

as far as underbody lighting goes, a senior rto officer in his qualis, pulls up to me at a signal and indicated that thosse look good on my car, that much for it being illegal. i believe neons on your number plate is illegal.

loud exhaust are a problem, but only if they are too loud. a dude i know spent 1.5 lacs on just a paintjob, bodykit and muffler for his lancer(dude got ripped) to be caught thrice in 1 day for the noise and each time paid up 500rs or so.

dude law as stated is not that important, but how it is interpreted. so basically it varies from cop to cop.

I never pay rs500 to any of the cops.Sadly enough,i did'nt have change on me.And most importantly,i would have to get rid of my muffler before going to the police station to get my license back.I did'nt want all those hassles. So i just paid up.

According to the law,the permitted decibel level is 45 db(night) and 55 db(day). If your exhaust is louder than that, they have the rights to fine you or even confiscate your car.
But it is necessary to measure up the sound with a decibel meter before arriving to any conclusion. And none of our paandus carry that.So that is one point you can argue on.But in the end,we are the ones suffering!
