Rubbing alcohol is Iso-propanol.

If you are legal (no film) then another thing I have used successfully is Diesel.

I will say in order, Colin, Iso-propanol, and diesel.

Thanks!
Well it is technically paint remover (of the nail variety) but using a small dab on a cotton ball is pretty safe. Like I said before, if you do use it, don't rub vigorously. I've removed a T-BHP sticker off the bootlid using this without harming the paint.

You won't really find anything effective that isn't harmful to paint in some way. Just be careful and you'll be fine.

Re: How do you remove stickers from the windshield?

Hi,

Need help with the following. Sorry for the close up pic. There simply was no other way.

1) To remove the dealer's sticker I used nail polish remover. And the result, as you can see, is not satisfactory. There are still traces of the sticker which I am unable to scrub.

2) The tilted Moon-and-Venus formation of black dots is from Feviquick. How can I remove this?

Have you arrived at any solution yet?

Try using diesel for the same.

For general sticker removals:
If you have available or can get access to, a few squirts of WD40 removes stickers and sticker goo very effectively.

What I did once was go to a local numberplate guy. He had a heat gun. Just asked him to help me remove a couple of stickers. He gladly pointed the gun at the stickers for 4-5 secs and peeled them off clean. A little residue was left, but removed with soapy water.

Guys i know my question is not exactly related to this thread but i couldnt find any other thread for it.
I just bought a RalliArt sticker made of Steel for my xuv. However it has a normal double sided tape with it so i know it would not stick to boot of my xuv. So i was thinking of pasteing it with Feviquick for a permanent solution. So would feviquick work in this situation? I dont want that after sometime it falls off or someone forcebly removes it then it might harm the paint too. Any suggestions?

Feviquick will ruin your car paint. Overtime, even Feviquick will give up too, and so will the paint area. IMO, don't use it. Use 3M double sided tape. However, someone can easily lift it off.

I bought the following and stickers are no more a problem:

not affiliated to any brand/seller - just a happy end user.

No. I tried with petrol. And then, tried with nail polish remover. It's not softening at all, the glued plastic spider wing. I gave up.

Can I paint over it. Just few daubs of white paint may be.

Re: How do you remove stickers from the windshield?

I had a mobile-holder fitted to the front windshield for quite sometime, one day when I removed it I noticed these dark brown spots. I tried using water to rub it off but they do not seem to go away. Now that i have removed the holder, these spots are an eye-sore.

How do you remove stickers from the windshield?-20160429_3.jpg

I avoided using any chemical cleaners as my car has got a UV protection film applied on the glass. Is there any safe way to try and remove these spots without harming the UV film?

Re: How do you remove stickers from the windshield?

Instead of using some fancy solvents like acetone or iso propanol I used a little gin soaked in a cloth duster and easily scrubbed off the adhesive - 10 mins. You can use vodka but it's more expensive. Cost Rs 5.

Weird problem, yes, but serious neverthelss.
1. Put a micro fibre cloth under the place on the dashboard and then try and peel away as much as you can.
2. When you mostly have paper residue remaining on the windhield, take a sponge and spray WD40 on the sponge. Be generous.
3. Rub the sponge on the sticker. Should start peeling off.
4. Kick the society duds on the backside for spoiling your car.
PS - I don’t stick it on the windhield anymore. I laminate it and hang it on my rear view or keep it in one of the cubby holes whenever asked.

Peel off as much as you can with your hands then spray Colin on the backside of the sticker and use a fine paper cutter with a thin blade parallel to the windshield. The idea is to get the blade slide in in-between the sticker and the windshield. The cutter should be flat against the windshield and then slid under the sticker.

Also next time just put a square border of cello tape around the sticker and then put the sticker on the windshield. Cello tape easily peels off and the sticker just comes off as its really not stuck to the windshield but just being held in place by the cello tape around the border. It's not visible from outside as well as cello tape is transparent. I always use this method after I burnt my fingers trying to remove badly stuck stickers.
