All my cars have Garware Arctic Cool Shield on the front windscreen and Icecool on the rest of the windows, since many years now. Have never faced any fogging issue during the rains.

Those facing an issue, there's a possibility that the installation of the film was not done properly.

Has anyone applied/considered CarPro Nanoceramic UVX 70 sun film?
Wanted to check any real world reviews. Quote for Creta is ~15-20k.

I'm having Garware ice Cool shield (all around) on my car for 6 years now. Absolutely no issues, and the film is performing brilliantly even today.

Why would you want to keep it? There should be no distraction to your vision.

The logos are there, I think, for one purpose only: to show the customer that the correct, branded, original film has been installed. Once seen, they should be wiped off. The installers will do it on request.

I had gone to get the car washed and saw the films available at the place. I had been bothered by the sun/heat earlier that day while driving from Bangalore to Hyderabad. Took an impromptu decision and got the films installed.
A good sun film make a lot of difference for passenger comfort. Also I noticed the sun film is being installed is on the outside of the windscreen. Most cases I have seen the sunfilm was installed on the inside surface of the screen. Wondering what are the pros and cons of outside vs inside application. One clear advantage of an external install is that you do not have to bother about removing the fasttag and HSRP sticker etc.

I checked the specs of these Garware films in some website. Going by that I am not very impressed with what a film like the Garware Fronty will offer. Attaching the table here which I found on the web. I have been researching a bit about getting sunfilms and the current trend is towards Nano ceramic, which has high heat rejection. Not sure what technology Garware produces, maybe its metallized film.
Front windscreen sunfilm?-img_6374.jpeg

If you see the specs of the Fronty, at VLT70 its only offering a heat rejection of 25%. The top of the line Ice Cool Shield offers 50% heat rejection at the same VLT. Now we get Nano Ceramic films which offer higher VLT(85%) and yet higher heat rejection. Of course they come at a price, but VLT70 IMO might be an issue during night driving especially if you arent in a position to upgrade headlights. So if its for front windshield only, consider going for a better film and any compromise on cost can be made in the sides.

The reason is similar to why we remove the tags from new clothes or even plastics from our new vehicles - the logo was to prove a genuine product and it has served its purpose. It can be removed now.

I forgot to mention this in my post - what you see is the installer taking measurement of the windshield and cutting the piece according to the windshield shape. Later it was installed on the inside of all the glass.

+1.

Adding the film helps reduce the glare from the shiny bright oncoming headlights (even glare from the RVMs). But it also reduces the view of the road and the headlight will feel slightly dimmer than it actually is.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

I had the Garware films installed on my Kia Seltos. Do note the front windscreen had a chip due to which i got it replaced from the showroom.

Not sure of other owners but my seltos glass has a lot of glare.

Coming to my point - I got terrible headaches while driving the car. Maybe a small double vision on the glass due to glare and the sunfilm was causing it. I literally thought am going blind and got my eyes tested. This occured even at night and thankfully my daily drive is less then 30 mins.

Two solutions - Always use polaroid sun glasses while driving, which really didnt help much especially at night.

Second - Remove the sun film from only the front windshield.

Did that which was another lengthy process at the HSR 3M dealer and post it there is no issues on headache.

The glare is ever present and if someone knows a good solution am all ears.

Conclusion - The sun film does reduce heat and helps in long drives during the day and you can cool your car with less of AC usage. But do note - It could also result in instances like mine.I do have the film on the side and rear windows and also on our other Ford where it is effective.

It just was a pain on my Kia.

There is a chance - like some one else has already shared - that the sunfilm was not a genuine product. Have had Garware from may be 2009 in my cars. The one on the Storme was good even when I sold the Storme after 11 years of use.

It is the way Kia Windshield is, I too had issues with a brand new test vehicle when I test drove it. I cancelled my booking due to this very reason.

I have posted the same on this thread, and few more bhp'ians faced same.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...-resolved.html (Kia Seltos windshield distortion is causing me extreme eye strain. EDIT : Resolved)

If intercity highways were like how they used to be 10-15 years back, not many will ever go near a windshield sun film. They used to be undivided, narrow, unlit and busy at the same time. Stage carriers and trucks with all sorts of headlights blazing down on poor car drivers.

The only solution was - Colin!

To have clearest possible windshield and good headlights. Sunfilm will block light, night driving glasses as well block light - avoid both if you can. Another thing to avoid while driving is - Polarized glasses, even during day time.

Car cleaning folks tend to smear dashboard polish everywhere, see if that is causing so much glare in your case.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Definitely a NO in Chennai, the cops stand in the corner and watch if the windshield is tinted, they stop all the cars with windshield tints. But, I have my windows tinted but never got stopped by the cops.

Is it legal for a film on front windscreen? I heard its completely illegal to have them specifically on front windshield.
