As BHPian JoaTMoN pointed out, they usually cut-out the fast tag or other sticker sections and stick it.

I didn't like the idea of doing that so I removed the Fast tag (Ordered a new one) and carefully removed my office sticker and stuck on top of the film. In fact, my new fast tag from Paytm had to removed stuck on the film since they shut down operations and stuck a new one. My dash cam is placed on the black dots next to the IRVM where no sun film is present.

FastTag can remain attached and film can be put over it. When i got my front windshield done from Car Guy Steamer, they insisted this since some Fastag scanners have difficulty in reading the Fasttag if it is attached over the sun film.

Dashcam wil be removed from the glass and re-fixed. It was a non-issue for me in both the cases.

The fastag can remain there and will work till it goes bad.
When it goes bad, you can just cut out that part of the film and stick the new one in same place

Dashcams come with anti-static type film strips which can be placed over the film and then the dashcam on these. These anti-static strips are available separately

Obviously, if the dashcam is already there, they will have to be removed before the film is put on the windshield.

Regarding parking stickers, I used a hair-dryer to mildly heat up the stickers, and remove them. The stickers went back in same place after the sunfilm was applied

*

In our cars, it's like this:
Windshield
Sunfilm
Fastag
Dashcam on sunfilm fixed last, using both - this anti-static film and also directly with dual side tape.

fastag works.

Hope this info is sufficient. You can decide which way you want to set things up.

Hi, could you share the contact details of Shreyas with me too?
If possible, you could post the location of his shop here as well.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Has anyone removed the Garware markings from the sunfilm? The guy who installed the film, said that the marks would go away after a few weeks. Or I could wipe it off with a little petrol.

This is how it looks like
Front windscreen sunfilm?-img_9953.jpg

Installed a set of Garware ArcticCool film on the front windshield and all the sides. Paid 19k for it.

One long drive after the installation and I could see the difference already.

Positives:

+ AC works better now
+ Cabin remains cooler even when car is left parked in sun
+ The direct sun rays coming into the cabin don't pinch as much
+ A little less glare from the LED headlights at night
+ Increased cabin privacy

Negatives:

- Reduced visibility into the cabin from outside. Can catch the cops' attention. Especially if your car comes with factory tinted windows, this will be extra tint on top of it
- Slightly reduced visibility from inside. You see everything with a layer of tint
- Expensive
- Long installation time (~3-3.5 hrs)
- Might need uninstall-reinstall of dashcam if you have one

The side windows seem to have 70% tint from factory. The film only adds to it

Final result

Looks dark, especially in the shade. A Seltos GT Line which comes with UV cut glass from factory, was parked beside my car and the glass looked much lighter

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

A friend of mine got Garware films installed on his MG Windsor and he also asked to remove the Garware markings, the installation guy simply used a cloth dipped in petrol.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

I had finalized on either Garware Arctic Cool Shield or Ice cool shield for my front windscreen based on this thread. Upon enquiring a known shop in JC Road, the guy was insisting on Garware Fronty which has a lower Heat rejection compared to the above even though he had all the 3 model films. He was telling that both Ice cool Shield & Arctic cool shield cause more fogging during monsoon. I got confused as why he is pushing for a cheaper option when the customer is asking for a costlier one.

Also a fellow BHPian mentions regarding the issue in this thread:

Can please someone with Icecool or Arctic cool shed light on this fogging issue?

I got it installed at a car wash/detailing place in Hyderabad - Tech5 detailing.

I had gone to get the car washed and saw the films available at the place. I had been bothered by the sun/heat earlier that day while driving from Bangalore to Hyderabad. Took an impromptu decision and got the films installed.

Use any solvent / Diesel to rub it off. It wont go away on it's own.

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

Is the reason to remove the logo because sun films (are still) illegal despite meeting the 70% minimum transparency requirement for windshields?

Re: Front windscreen sunfilm?

My father got Garware film installed in our used Maruti 800 MPFi in 2008-9(sorry can't remember the exact year) for ~2k in Kanpur, AC was barely able to keep up in summers. It was applied on windows and rear windscreen and as far as I can remember, the film was marked VLT 50% and I was cribbing for darker film. It was two step application with rear glass done in one piece and the windows edges were barely visible. One thing that I would point out is the amazing durability of that film. The car was sold in 2016 and there was not a scratch on it, we also adopted a dog in 2012 and even then the application of film remained as it was when new.

Having fun

I would love to get it done, green tint looks classy IMHO and I would go for Garware or any other premium brand. Delhi in one region where I have seen Maybach GLS black tint with no number plate, roaming around like they own the city and my vehicles getting stopped due to Kanpur(UP 78) number.

Yes, all films are illegal and these logos make it easy for traffic police. Though cops knows and it is very easy for them to catch sun films on traffic lights. But that is a cost we should be prepared to pay if we need these films.
