Re: How does your car smell

Its simple;
1 keep car clean -wash your car daily
2. Daily - roll down windows and set thermostat to full heating for 5 minutes with blower on full and recirc on. This should get rid of the bad /foul odour.
3. Do the above for about 2 weeks daily.
4. if it does not help then change air/pollen filters

Re: How does your car smell

I got a compliment from my colleague that my car has the warm smell of a BAKERY!! I assured him no baking activity goes on in the car....then I thought really hard.....figured it could be because of my son who keeps wiping his butter smeared face on the headrests!!!!

Re: How does your car smell

I am unable to find a dealer who sells Areon Jute perfume in chennai. My regular dealer says he did not receive any stock for the past 2 months. Wonder why good perfumes are always out of stock.

Tried Ambipur perfume, had to throw it out halfway through, thanks to wifie, who complained that the smell was not pleasant and our dress smells of ambipur after a while . Glade was not good either. Driving without a perfume for a couple of weeks now.

Why dont u try My Shaldan? Its available in Moto Privilege mall, Tyrestore and most shops at GP road. They last longer than jute perfumes, and are fully natural.

Re: How does your car smell

New Car Smell -- In 2011 September I bought new Toyota Camry. After few days I put Car freshener in my car . But one of my friends suggested not use any fresheners in new car as it may take off new car smell.
Till now I didn’t put any fresheners and still my car smells as new car.
I think once I opted for “ New Car” flavor while I gave it for complete car wash.

I was not able to find a shop which sells My Shaldan until tonight, a new shop near my area had 3 fragnances apple, lime and lemon. I bought the lemon fragnance. Will comment on it, after i use it for a while.

Heard some stories about fake My Shaldan products doing rounds in the city, lets see how this one is. Also jute based perfumes last longer than Gel based ones. I used Areon jute based perfume for 2 months in my car and then put it in the boot. Still after more than 2 months, I can smell it whenever I open the boot. For hatchbacks, it should last for atleast 2-3 months.

mb jg, good explationation to the 'bakery smell' in your car. burst out after reading.

what I do -
- remove the mats n vacuum the carpets, crevices between the seat and the backrest, and all door pockets once every week or the next day after a long trip with the kids.
- spray and clean the leather seats, door panels and dashboard using F1 leather cleaner around once in 2 months.
- have place a scented sachet ILLUMINATIONS DEWDROPS under the front seat.
- have clipped an AUTO EXPRESSIONS 'new car' scent onto the foot A/C vent. This helps in sending out a burst of fragrance if required by switching over the A/C flow to 'foot'

placing the scented sachet under the seat and clipping the 'auto expressions' onto the foot A/C vent, both out of sight, has had friends wondering 'HOW DOES THIS GUY MANAGE TO KEEP HIS CAR SMELLING NICE AND CLEAN ?'

The fake ones are easy to identify for a trained eye, go through the other thread for pictorial comparisons. I would love to know the place from where you sourced Areon jute perfumes in Chennai. Will try them next in the car.

Re: How does your car smell

Most car perfumes give me a headache. So no perfumes in my car- she's nearly 4 years old now and smells like new. Some 'rules' that I follow:

a) no smoking
b) no eating or drinking in the car - attracts rodents and makes the car stink.
c) Cleaning the mats and upholstery regularly with mild soap and water
d) During the monsoons I make it a point to dry the cloth/fibre OE mats by removing them from the car and keeping them under a fan at home. Avoids musty smells. I also keep a few sheets of newspapers between the mat and carpet to absorb moisture and keep the carpet dry.
e) Dashboard, steering and windshields (inside) cleaned regularly with water and a microfibre cloth

Re: How does your car smell

Apart from My Shaldan range... the Grandy "Black" perfume is extremely good. The trouble is most shops i've checked ranging from Sion to Opera House don't seem to have it anymore. The My Shaldan wax i find it to wear out quite fast.

Does anyone use this particular fragrance and know where to get the Grandy "Black" perfume? I'd be thrilled! Thanks!

Is this what you are talking about?
grandy | eBay

BTW I purchased the following, you can smell it only when you are holding it to your nose so imagine how it would be in your car :( . After 7 days and keeping it fully open I can't smell any fragrance in the car.

AIR WICK Gel Air Freshener-Home/Office/Car-CRISP BREEZE | eBay

Re: How does your car smell

@DRIV3R: As I said in my previous post, my regular dealer (near sembakkam swimming pool) has no stock of Areon jute perfumes for the past 2 months. And other shops have never heard of it.

@Chetan: Good for you mate. I am glad you managed to buy one.

Also I tried out My Shaldan perfume today. The smell was good, but it wasn't strong enough. I have placed it under the driver's seat. I can only barely smell it. The fragnance is easily overcome by other smells. I am not sure if I have placed it correctly (I placed the jute based perfume there and it smell was quiet strong) or is this how My Shaldan will be?
