By looking at the grill, could you please tell me whether it is a type 1 or type 2 grill? My exterior mod wishlist includes mat black pillars, black side panels, tail antenna, grill replacement, subtle spoiler, and fog lamps. Then I shall move to engine and interior design. By the way, I have got Sony HU with USB port and it has been reliable so far.
Hi MissionAbler,

Can you let us know what is the tyre profile used. Looks stunning with that rubber and Hijoin alloys.

I got it done from Coimbatore. I got custom springs which exactly work like stock but a little increment in height for the springs. When it is fixed to the stock shocks the spring become much more stiffer than the OE ones. Thats it!
Am planning for a Height Adjustable one for both the front and rear.

My zen mechanic said, the AC gas top up would cost around 2K, with cleaning and nitrogen gas treatment/checking. Is this correct?
Last time I did it for 900 INR. Please throw some light on this. have the prices increased ?

I don't know what nitrogen gas treatment / checking is, but 2k sounds a bit too much, unless he's completely cleaning up the entire AC system. Usually Gas top up cost about 700-900/ INR.

Thanks @musicmanaman, now that you have cleared my doubt, I'll ask him what else other than the gas top up he is gonna do. I told him to clean the blower fan if it is choked, but thats it. Let me call him and talk to him. Will keep you guys posted.

Usually the evaporator coil is also taken out and cleaned, this is under the dash board on the paasenger side, this is critical to cooling, if it is clouged then the cooling goes down.

I have a year 2000 Zen. It needs refilling of AC compressor gas. But the problem is here in Kolkata, the AC service people are saying that the AC gas (R12) is now banned and the new gas can not be used in the older compressor directly. The compressor needs some additional fittings for filling the new gas which costs 6-7 K.

The Delhi guys in TBHP are saying that the old gas is available - but one has to search hard for it. I'm unable to find it in Kolkata.

Any pointer guys?

I recently got my ZEn ac serviced where the Gas was changed from the R12 to r134 and it was all for a total of 1500 included all the service and the new compressor oil aswell.

the whole setup may need just a brand new bottel to hold the gas thats all,

Just asked my mechanic. He said some ring had to be replaced due to which there was leakage in the AC system. Will have to see what he replaced. Also he topped up gas and did some testing with nitrogen.

How is the cooling after the change? My local mechanic is telling that even if the change is done - the cooling will be far less and the compressor will not last long as the pressure of the R134 is much higher than the R12.

Also, can you please check and tell me what are changed during the the service?

Thats true the coolling is not as good as r12 but i may be going for some more mods to the AC. this summer is almost gone in the current weather the AC seems to be working fine. my uncle got the AC done for my 800 and belive it or not the Car does not feel stressed when the AC is switched on and the coolling is a lot better than the old times as for ZEN. lets see that involves a change in the Compressor and the pullies lets see that would be for next summers.

Just got the car back. Engine compression test is normal. Clutch is fine. A/C Gas topped up. They do some nitrogen gas testing to find any leakages in the system. They changed something called 'o' ring in the pipings. They cleaned the A/C outlet of all the dirt. A/C performance has increased but not by a lot, but sufficiently enough.
Got 90/100 bulbs fitted. The effect is nice. The alignment of the bulbs is also such that most of the light is on the road. I still have the Phillips Extreme power with me.
All fluids topped up. They asked me to get the stock tyres changed after 5K kms (for the first time.)
Everything feels tighter and nicer after the service.
Thanks.

archat, same issue with me.

well my mech quoted me 3.5 - 4K for the whole job. he says only jali (duplicate) R12 gas is available that too for Rs. 1700. he also mentioned that the cooling is slightly worse with the new gas. have decided to get it done prior to next summer.

incase you come across something regarding it please let me know.

Sure mate.

Actually I'm also in a dilemma about what to do? I'm thinking that I'll give a try with the R134 gas. I think it is better to change the whole AC unit to a newer one instead of spending 6-7 K on the old AC.

BTW does anybody has any idea about the cost of a AC unit (compressor+condenser+cooling coil etc) for Zen?

Converted the AC of my '99 Zen to suit the new R134 gas instead of the old R12 (banned and unavailable in Kolkata). Costed 7K to me. The cooling is fantastic now.
