Hello all! Well amongst the Evilution and the new E36, there is a small piece of our heart that was rusting beyond repair. The car has been with us for over 18 years now and i only wish i had taken pics to show what state it was in. To describe, the roof had corroded badly and used to leak rain water by the buckets. The engine which had done by 5,80,000 odd kms was absolutely useless and we could very well just forget about the AC. The interiors due to abuse from the rain had become sticky and had a pungent odour. So one fine day when my dad's eye fell on the degrading state of the car and wondered what to do with it, I suggested selling it of , however, what we'd get for the car was... well zilch! Besides, it was my dads first car ever so apart from the emotional attachment the only thing that made us work on it was the number plate.. DED2. So we went to my friend Arush, Autopsyche. Who, if you ask has a 4 page list of parts that went into bringing this car back to life. Im sure, he can throw more light into the mechanical work that went into the car. Well enough blabbering, here's my 800 brought back from the dead.

the 800 looks good, but a better alloy would have changed the looks as the color is black. the seat color combo is pretty good with a hight adjuster (right??). but 1 thing you could have done is fitting the modern grille to it.
Great work done. Very impressive. You must be feeling proud when driving this.
BTW Great number too.
What have you done to that engine? Re-bored or plugged a new one?
A set of new polished bumpers will transform the current look. Pronto!
@kjdesigns : Very happy with the work, sure makes travelling easy within the city because of the amazing mileage and also gets quite a few looks.
@Rudra Sen: The engine has basically been overhauled, the mechanical bits, Arush will shed some light on.
@ Abix
The car looks neat & as good as new. You must have had to do a fair bit on the mechanical front after clocking 5.5 Lac kms :Shockked: That must be a record of sorts !!!!! :)
Cheers
Lovely man Abix, good that you got it back, and cheers to Arush for the job :)
Hi guys,
i now understand that selling my 800 is a mistake.:Shockked:I should have retained my 800.How much the cost for the makeover?

Wow looks pretty clean. 580,000 kms on a Maruti 800 is purely impressive. I didn't know that 3 cylinder engine could last that long.
Well Sujaylahiri, it actually didnt last that long! The car started fine but it was a pain driving it for more than 10 mins because it would heat up and finally give up. Now the overhaul has been done soo well its running smoothly.

Abix, are you saying that the car ran for 5.5 Lac kms
WITHOUT an overhaul ??? IMHO, It could surely have run with overhauls after every 1.5L kms. or so.
I doubt it, but if it did, I think Maruti should put that up on their website as a testimonial, and Limca Book Of Records should make a mention of this !!! Seriously.
Anyways - what matters is it now looks as good as new !! :)
Cheers
@ricky: sir, the car has been worked upon time and time again, its even been through an accident which left its front half completely battered. The 5.5 lac kms was just used to show how old the car is. Its just that even after the work, the car, with a relative, used to stand exposed to the elements, hence deteriorating in condition. Finally we have the car to ourselves now and although its just used to get "sabzi", atleast it will be done in style.
This reminds me of my beloved BLB6986 in "biscuit" colour. My love for Premier Padminis finally made me sell it off I guess. Sad !:Frustrati
thats some beautiful restoration.
Would luv to hear about the details from autopsyche.
Can you please post what was the total overhaul valued at?
