Does the car rev out in fifth gear? With so much torque at disposal,i guess the car will easily redline in fifth gear.stock swift really looses the plot in fifth gear.
please note: i know you would need a really long and safe stretch of tarmac to test this.i asked just out of curiosity.thank you

i have heard that the car touched 190km/hr in the fourth gear well

in that case i am dead sure it can cross 220 mark with out any issues

just need to wait for the right roads to be built

@kuttapan - I have to hit 200 first to find out what will happen. :-)

@NFS88 - I have come close to hitting the rev limiter in 4th gear but never done in 5th. Will try and see it it does that.

@alias - There are a couple of roads available but not being able to find time to get to them.

Pics my dear Vikram_D??!!
Please post pics. Am sure most of us are dying to see pics of the car as well as under hood!!
What Brake set up are you using and now that you have run the car for some time, do you still maintain that the stock suspension is ok?

Pics will take time as we have some piping clean up to do which could not be done due to time constraints. Also this piping is not permanent. I will be changing it shortly. All this as the BOV that I have on the car right now is a loaner and my actual BOV is yet to arrive.

Brakes are absolutely stock, but when I change the brakes pads next time will go in for better brakes pads.

Handling seems fine but cant get an accurate picture as the tyres on the car are were originally hard (Hankook Ventus K102 - 205/55-R15) and have become even more harder after 50000kms of use. Will be changing them shortly once Vitamin 'M' makes some recovery. Suspension is also fine, but I also have a set of Peddar lowering springs which I use on track. I normally run these springs with 14" wheels to reduce the ground clearence even further.

Ok guys I just got back from a thorough stress test of the build on highway driving scenarios. I drove down to Chennai today and back. On my way to Chennai I was constantly cruising at 120 - 140 and on my way back 90 - 110 with 100% A/c usage on both the to & fro journey. Everything in the build has held up and there were no untoward incidents except for a puncture.

The thing that I enjoyed the most was that even while cruising on an uphill section of road how the vehicle keeps accelerating after 3000 rpm even though I am holding a constant throttle position. Absolutely loved driving the car today. In all 690 kms covered in a span of 11 hours.

PS: Took down another Civic. he he he. It's becoming a habit now. Just love the look on peoples faces when they realise that they have been whooped by a Swift.

PPS: Before I get flamed for unsafe driving, I would like to make clear that it was an absolutely clear piece of road with no traffic till the eye could see.

Hi Vikram!
I might sound stupid, but I have a question! When you say that you took down a Civic! what are you suggesting? (since I haven't seen your car running in flesh! I'm trying to figure out how quick it is! so these questions!)

1.Did you take it in outright acceleration!
or
2.Did you take it in in gear acceleration!
or
3.Did you take it in the top whack!

Also, how does your car fare in comparison to Psycho's esteem! (I know guess ur running stock internals and he forged! but still, how is it?)

Cheers,
Shrey

Just caught up with this thread. Great going Vikram_d. Most interesting is that you have a daily driver that can if required cream a civic. 190 in a Swift is amazing, but tell me, how does the steering feel at that speed? I have only driven a Swift at 100, and I felt pretty scared with its over-sensitivity.

But what is really good is that you have done a 690 km run in 11 hours and no untoward incident at all. Great build.

Ram, the Hankook Ventus are extremely good tyres. They are offer exceptional grip both in dry as well as wet conditions. The only problem with them is that they are extremely hard and have a lot ot tyre noise. The noise doesnt bother me as I rarely hear it thanks to the ICE gurus and the nildly loud exhaust.

No question is stupid my friend even though some might seem so. Well to be honest I took it in all three parts. I was caught up in slow moving traffic when this guy comes up behind me and starts honking incessantly in spite of seeing that I have nowher to go. As soon as I could I let him overtake me and then decided to teach him a lesson. I just floored it 3rd gear and took off. He tried to kep me behind him. The minute I saw an open stretch of road I just down shifted from 4th back to 3rd swept around his left side and took off. By the time I had switched to 5th gear he was just a small dot in the rear view mirror. Once I had proven my point, I just slowed down and let him go. Was nice seeing the look on his face.

And on the question of how my car compare's to Psycho's esteem, I wouldnt know cause I have never driven his car. I think he would be a better person to answer this as he has driven both his and my cars (only for a small trial run after the build was completed and the turbo was generating 4 pounds of boost).

The steering feels extremely light at these speeds inspite of the 205 width tyres I am running. But in the same breath I have to say that it does not feel unsafe. It feels nice and secure. You just have to know what the limits of the car are.
