Hey, yesterday I gifted myself with a similar scratches like you had.. A small kiss to an Activa for his sudden breaking. So want to try out your juggad. As other member pointed that, correction pen may turn yellow over the time but in your case it dint happened like that ; could you please inform which correction pen you had used (if remember). Heck we have started discussing on correction pen apart from Car!!

Hi All,

I found a small paint chip on the driver side door. I have attached two pictures of the same. How do I repair this without going for a repaint of the door? Is it going to be harmful if I leave it as it is ?

I have kept the door handle in the pic to give an idea of the size of the damage.

I have the exact same Polo and was looking at solutions for getting rid of small scuff marks on bumper and bonnet. I have ordered Com-paint kit to see how that turns out. But I am def gonna try your DIY jugaad and report the progress.

So the Com - Paint DIY didn't work as well as I expected. I followed the steps as per their instructions, now I have rough patches all over the body. I applied com - merge and then com cut, alas the shine isn't back. The areas where I applied paint have a rough/matt texture and it's not going. I applied 2 quotes of carnauba wax as well. Let's see what happens.

I tried using a pen based scratch remover for this without success. This is a slightly deeper scratch than a typical finger nail scratch.

Anyone has a positive experience with pen scratch remover for such scratch?

I'd use Formula 1 SCRATCH OUT. But do get it from an authorized shop or have someone hand-carry from overseas. Lots of fakes online

Hi..

I watched a video on YouTube and ordered 3M Perfect It paste and I tried it a few times and although it doesn't work 100%, but it certainly reduces the scratch marks to a great extent.

The pics below with the before and after will tell the tale. The other advantage it felt was, it brings out the gloss as well, after application. But remember, this works on light scratches, without the paint having been peeled off.

Instructions to use (although detailed and more complicated instructions are on the product). Clean the area where the scratches are there. Apply the paste on the scratches and wait for a few mins, then scrub with a clean microfiber cloth for a few mins

Have not tried this particular product, but have used many like it. Truth is, the paint match is never perfect and you’re much better off getting a small amount of paint from your trusted body shop/dealer. With dealers, you’ll have to ask whenever you’re there for service and in most cases they’ll give you a small amount.

Clean the area with 25% IPA, take a fine tip brush and apply a small quantity to fill in the area. If you’re comfortable with machine polishing and wet sanding. You can hit the area lightly with 2000 grit sandpaper and compound and polish to further refine.

If you want more durability you can additionally add on clearcoat (spray or liquid form whatever easily available), apply using the same fine tipped brush over the base paint. Do the clearcoat step prior to any sanding/polishing.

There are many guides on YouTube showing the exact process in detail.

As AJ mentioned above, if you want near perfect color match, you need to get small quantity of paint from a shop (they will match it with the color code of the car) and apply using a pointed brush. Though color may match, the finishing won't be perfect.

If you don't want to go through this hassle and just need a jugaad way to cover the black spots, get a nail polish that somewhat match the car's color and use that. The color difference will be visible when looking close, but after few days you will forget about it and no one else will notice it. I use nail polish all the time now a days. For large scratches, I use com-paint. But that is half a day's work, not worth the effort for small scratches such as these and if you aren't used to applying aerosol you most likely will spoil the car.

In this case I recommend a nail polish. If you don't get it right first time, use thinner or a nail posih remover and try again.

Personal opinion here... It doesn't look very good up close, but from far I'd imagine that's acceptable!

Such a small scratch is really cheap to fix at any decent FNG in better quality.
